As a Silence of the Lambs fan, Longlegs was an absolute disappointment. So many contradictions, unwarranted scares punctuated loud, obnoxious, and cheap music, and an antagonist whose intentions make no sense at all. It’s an “all style, no substance” movie and compared to The Silence of the Lambs or Cure it lacks any sort of cohesion.

Look, every generation needs its own future "so bad their good" movies. In the 80s and 90s my group got things like Castle Freak, the later Silent Night Deadly Night, and random Roger Corman flicks. The problem is someone needs to inform the Sony executives that these things are supposed to be shot on shoestring budgets. I swear to god the only difference between the quality of Madame Webb and say Birdemic is $150+ million dollars being burned on screen. These movies could be hilariously bad if they weren't simply tragic.

i fall asleep at episode 2 befor that i was watching some stuff on my phone. Very Boring S2. allmost all characters from S1 dont interest me also. i think all a here because of the Lead role. Fergasun is great but i cant watch this anymore.... I dont need comedy at a ScFi Series if the tone is set dark.

I'm on Reaper's side when it comes to the Penguin. I thought the show was good, even great in some instances, but for a show that presents itself as grounded and realistic, Sofia Falcone (I just jizzed my pants by saying her name) is a walking contrivance. There are multiple points throughout the show where she's completely vulnerable, has little to no muscle or backup, no leverage, yet somehow manages to come out on top of a room full of high ranking mob guys. The show royally screwed up the logistics behind her ascent to power. If the show didn't wrap her fat ass (The intrusive thoughts won again) in plot armour, she would've gotten wacked three episodes in. And on another note, if you've watched the Sopranos, the show feels like it borders on "Can I copy your homework" territory at times. Even that final scene (if you know, you know), for as good as it was, immediately made me think "Yep, Tony did that too."

"The Joker 2," was a fantastic film! It holds absolute contempt for its audience and legacy. It despises its characters. It revels in self loathing. It's a complete insult to cinema as an art form. Score: 5 poos out of 5 poos. But seriously though, "Pink Flamingos" does this kind of thing 100000x times better and in a much more interesting, unique and entertaining and extreme way. Watch that classic instead, not Joker 2's trash.

@BSUPyt Thank you, I’m still making my way through the video but am curious if it didn’t make a strong enough impression one way or the other, or if people just didn’t watch it. Regardless of whether or not it clicked with any particular viewer (I know it’s too slow and boring for some), I thought it stood out from so many current movies and shows because it felt like much care and attention was put into every aspect of the production

Longlegs is bad. It's like one of those fake A24 movies you see on streaming services. The exposition dialogue is super blunt, the cinematography is flat and dull, the acting is adequate at best, the plot twist is predictable, the characters are all complete clichés, the actual mechanics of the plot rely on supernatural bullshit and the protagonists conveniently being drip-fed information instead of figuring stuff out on their own, and the directing screams "LOOK LOOK MOMMY I'M BEING ARTHOUSEY AND SUBTLE! AREN'T I SUBTLE? LOOK HOW SUBTLE THIS IS!!!!" when in reality it's just slow and static. Rewatch Silence of The Lambs, you'll see what a real thriller looks like. Hell, just watch Copycat, even that film is better.

@34:33 Villeneuve's Dune honestly felt like Fandom Menace, especially Robert Meyer Burnett, astroturfing the movie to be better than what it was. I know Villeneuve said he hates dialogue, but it's more accurate to say he doesn't know how to use dialogue. In Part 1, the way Paul learns why the spice melange is valuable is by watching the Arakis Board of Tourism's hologram explaining everything. The scene is so boring Paul isn't paying attention and fantasizes about Chani instead. More visually minded directors would have always gone with the show, don't tell approach and probably show a Navigator snorting spice to open the portal to show the importance of the spice, so to have a scene with incredibly clunky exposition out of a director reputed to be a master of visual effects was immediately sus to me. Then there's Duncan's fight scenes that seem to obey the "slow blade penetrates the shield" rule until it doesn't during his last stand. That scene was normal choreography until they watched it again in post to add the shield effects and realized that they had to break this rule because they couldn't reshoot the entire scene with choreography that fits the slow blade rule. Which indicates a lack of attention to detail in a movie that usually is good at that sort of thing. Hans Zimmer's soundtrack is sorely lacking in emotional content too and I consider him worse than Zendaya. She only ruins the scenes she's in, the boring score is in every scene. Part 2 was going to be more of the same. At some point in Part 1, I realized that I didn't care what I was watching. At $15/3 hours, being ambivalent is the same as hating the movie. For that kind of money, I could have gone to a decent restaurant by myself and have more fun that way. I also would not have had that cognitive dissonance of critics I generally respect over-praise the movie as the saving grace of Hollywood. That's why Dune is no Lord of the Rings; it's not that great of an adaptation for book fans and non book readers are just kind of bored by Villeneuve's weird pacing. They did say it looked good, but no one really cared.
