Nice video. I am 1,57m (5'2") and 27,5" inseam. I have a Triumph TigerSport for quite some time now and I have adapted to it quite well now. We, short riders, have to accept there is a learning curve and that we won't master these techniques from day to night. It takes time and lots of near misses (and some misses too rsrsrsrs) to get comfortable with a tall and heavy bike.

For those of us riding on the right side of the road, the crown is opposite as the video demonstration. Left leg down for those riders. Bike in gear, clutch in, left leg down, right leg on the brake would be my suggestion in that situation. Just a little FYI for consideration.

Yep. The butt scoot to artificially lengthen the inseam of the leg you put down. I’m 5’1” 😮 and I have ridden pretty tall bikes.

why when the average guy in the uk is 5'10 are they making these bikes so tall? 99% of us don't need more than 200mm of travel on our bikes even off road!!! so why not make them shorter and do a high seat option ???

Even worse for the women I’m lucky to be 5’9 but still can only get one foot down at a stop unless I wear my Daytona touring boots which add a couple inches for me.

@maomekat2369 have you tried adjusting your shifter so the boot fits? This is an easy fix and worked for me. Otherwise, maybe learn to shift with the side of the boot. Only other option would be a lowering kit.

Very helpful video, I’m not very small but am having more problems than I expected, coming back to motor cycling after a 53 year gap. I thought it would be "as easy as riding a bike” but this was not so.

It's about time manufacturers offer a proper low seat option, and im not talking low as in 30 in or lowering kits/shaved seats either. I'm a new rider (56) with 27in inseam, and moving from side to side just to have a foot down chaffes. Cruisers and bobbers are the only low ride seat, but then they put the pegs forward, and size 4 feet don't reach! I want a decent bike that i feel in total control of, not too much to ask?
@HabitualFixation Жыл бұрын
I’m 5’7 and I think the onlt thing might be a problem is using the rear brake on a hill. With the right leg down to compensate being closer to the ground on a left leaning gradient road I wouldnt be able to?
@JessieGyrl79 ай бұрын
I had to practice using the front break only in such situations since only one foot can touch down sometimes I end up not being in the ideal situation and wrong foot has to go down. Worst case I was in a dip and couldn’t get either foot down and had to play with the clutch and balance letting myself fall a little and go back up if that makes sense. But that was on a mountain and I’ll try to never do that again 😂

A competent suspension shop can lower the suspension, spring\valve it for the actual riders weight, set proper sag\compression ebound, and you then have the perfect combination!

Shorter folks will have a lot of difficulty with lots of bike drops. Even if you can just tip toe, you’re not going to have a wide enough base of support to be able to hold up a top heavy adventure bike if it’s going to topple over!

Im 61 5'8 28" leg . Needed a more upright but light bike after ohs. They are way too tall and heavy. As you get older you dont want to be fumbling around getting just one foot down or trying to get the bike straight . Ive seen the range and even the 660 is designed for taller riders and the 1200 is impossible to mount unless you have a ladder. Why dont triumph make a shorter version like the scrambler xc? Its not triumph but all of the manufacters are the same ,build a bike for the uk market like the xc. In the end i decided on a Suzuki vstrom 650,Perfect for me unless triumph brings out something better of course.

The lower the bike, the less the suspension travel. My Harley had a 27" seat height and 2 1/2" of suspension travel. When I moved to Mexico for a while, with so many roads of dirt or potholes, the bike (V-Rod) was barely rideable - especially at night when sand and potholes seemed to jump out at me. Now I have a KTM 890 Adventure, had a lowering kit, and added 1" to the soles of my boots, I reach the ground just fine in the dirt and the bike still has a good 6" of travel, though the suspension needs a professional revalve and spring tune. I'm 5'7".
