If you’ve got the money aspect of life covered, then scale back on hours for the sake of family, mental health, and quality of life. I love my job but I’d quit in a second if I had the money. Life is short and I’d rather spend it with family and friends.

Agreed, but adults accept pain now for pleasure later; and in this day in age everyone can become wealthy with how easy it is to invest. There is a lot of entitlement nowadays.

I work too much. I want to be able to relax and spend time with my family now. I typically work 65 hours a week without any breaks or lunches. I have been doing this for over 25 years. At some point, I would like to scale back and work less. I work two weekends a month and still find time to spend with my family and do al of the chores.

I am of the opinion that working a lot of hours is fine if you're working towards some sort of end goal in mind, but if this guy's financial situation is already sound and he wants to spend more time with his family, he should be able to do that without having to fight with his dad to do so. I don't think wanting to work less than 60-70 hours a week is an unreasonable request.

Lol. Your kids will be out of the house one day and they will come visit you from time to time. Don't believe that just because you are a parent that your kids will be around. Some do. Where I worked we have flexible hours and time off, personal leave, cafeteria, lunchroom, breaks, lunches, free coffee, state of the art gym,walking/jogging trail, ten paid holidays, six weeks paid vacation, physical therapists, medical staff, free flight benefits,50% discount on hotels, 50%-90% on cruises, over 50 hours of class each year,on base annual medical,etc.,etc.,…. But many getting in debt living beyond means creating their own issues so they can’t be flexible with work and have to work a lot of overtime away from family.

If your manager or company owner expects you to work 12 hours a day, all the time, because you need to “put in your time”… it’s time to find a new job. That is a staffing problem which is a result of owners or managers wanting to save money. And it’s possible because they don’t feel bad about taking advantage of their hard working staff.

If you're working that amount of time for the money you're making you're not making enough money. You have to maximize the amount of money you're making for the time you spend. 12 hours a day might need to be the cutoff if you're working baby step 2 and then when you're done paying off debt you should probably go back to working 8 or 9 hours depending on your job.

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got to talking about investment and money. I started investing with $150k and in the first 2 months, my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and get more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.

Hi. I’ve been forced to find additional sources of income as I got retrenched. I barely have time to continue trading and watch my investments since I had my second child. Do you think I should take a break for a while from the market and focus on other things or return whenever I have free time or is it a continuous process? Thanks

@@Lourd-Bab However, if you do not have access to a professional like Clementina Abate Russo, quitting your job to focus on trading may not be the best approach. Unless you absolutely need the money, starting a business, or aiming towards a greater purpose such as financial freedom, (I guess that could go in the first category) or a potential promotion, overworking does more harm than good in my book. God says to work hard, but he also says to rest. Don't ignore the latter :)

I kinda like to work more then what people expect of me. I have pushed 24hrs or even close 48hrs before(the military built me for that). I just came off a job a few days ago that I put 30hrs in non stop. Personally I hate taking days off or vacations. I simply have no idea what to do and think of work. I even chose to work holiday's. It's kinda weird because the people who told me to work hard and do what must be done, now think I need to take vacations. I sculpted my life into work and I'm comfortable with it now. Even though I get told not to work weekends. I still find a way to work. I don't have any kids or a wife. I'm just helping my parents out and we have debt to clear. Taking days off and vacations feels very inappropriate to me and I get a guilt trip like I'm not doing something that I should. Sometimes I just wish I could be left alone to do what I want. When the debt is cleared, then I might look forward to taking time off. However it's usually clear debt. Build a savings. Build a bigger savings. Then take a a little time to yourself.
