The words are dope. I use to love spoken word. As a writer myself, it use to inspire me. Now the styles are basically copycats of each other. The same cadence, content, style, etc. Shit gets dull fast.

I've long been a fan of spoken word and Def Poetry Jam in particular but this joint has been my all-time favorite for YEARS. She's the dopest. One thing though - years ago I would watch this clip a million times and had it burned on my brain. I could be wrong but because I've practically memorized it from years ago, I am 99% sure this is not the original video and that she added a line at the end. Not sure but I THINK she took out the word "INSTEAD" from the end here: "...but this is what I came up with. (omitted: INSTEAD) "...because my soul spirit and inner fire is blazing always lit, etc. Plus, as perfect as it is, her inflection is different this time. I could be tripping. Is there anyone out there who knows for sure that this is a different video (not that it matters - just wondering if I need to check myself into the State hospital or not....LOL).
