The Canadian music industry spits them out when they are done with them,so much talent wasted because of the profit margins. Alannah Myles another example
@kjleighb2 жыл бұрын
Bad timing. She sounded a little too much like Melissa Etheridge, who was very popular at the time. The music industry simply won't support two similar-sounding artists when one is already a big star....even if the less popular one is a better musician. Lots of talented artists have been screwed this way, and consequently ended up one-hit wonders. Quarterflash (Pat Benatar), The Knack (Cheap Trick), Soft Cell (Human League), Joan Osborne (Sheryl Crow), Dexy’s Midnight Runners (General Public), Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Dead Or Alive), Mark Dinning (Roy Orbison), Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs (Frankie Valli/Four Seasons), and the list goes on. In the case of The Zodiacs, their hit was functionally stolen and made into a big hit by their competition. It ain't fair, but that's The Biz. Timing is everything.

Amanda, you have given many women the inspiration to leave their abuser. Thank you so much. Your song helped me a lot. I will always remember that one point in the video where she gets out of the car and stands looking up at the snow falling. It gives me the feeling that she is letting the snow flakes falling on her to help wash away the bad feelings and it symbolizes a clean break and freedom. This image will be in my mind forever.

Felt like it was the end of the road at the time, that I'd hit bottom...and as much as I loved the song and the sound of Amanda's voice, the repetitiveness on the radio ingrained it as an anthem for my loneliness and depression at the time.
