Yes more overlay tips! I’ve grown my nails out really long so gel overlays seem to be a good option for me. Can you build the gel & just back fill instead of removing it & starting over?

Oh my gosh I didn’t realize this had a name lol! I’ve been doing this for years and I tell all my friends about it too! I originally started when there wasn’t a huge selection of gel colors available for at home kits, so I do the gel base layer then use whatever color regular nail polish I want, then a top layer of clear gel again to sandwich it in. I love it! Or when I want to be able to remove it easily I just use regular top coat like you showed us. Thanks for the video!

Ahhh you're already in the know! SUCH a great trick - how do you find the gel top coat works on top of regular polish - I've never tried!

@@AmandaBellaa you have to make sure the nail polish is fully dry. Any gel top coat will do

@@ohitsmeolivia yes you’re right! It works great as long as the regular color is completely dry. I find when I do multiple coats of color where it stays tacky for a while, when I cure the top gel it will bunch up and create creases on itself (like crumpled plastic wrap) which you then have to file and smooth down to redo the clear gel to fix it. Trial and error haha

Im atarting this today, I hope I can really grow my natural nails once and for all bc they are paper thin an very bendy so even geil nail polish starts chippin within on single day... But when I have gad acrylics they grow really long being protected by the acrylic and polish stays perfect for a looon ass time so I found gel overlays which is sth I always thought about in my head but I didnt know it was thing so I didnt know how to do it but now I have everything I need, can't wait!

Thank you so much for this. I'm gonna try this. I've been trying the nail aid biotin stuff but my nails just won't stop peeling. So I figure maybe if I keep the get on my nails, I can grow out the peeling and have nice nails again lol

Yes!! That’s always the hard part😭 - when I started using the biotin I would trim my nails short every mani to eliminate the peeling. It eventually grew out 🙌🏻

Hey this is jist a base coat, for this tratment it would be better to use the structure gelish sel or any kind of building gel, so you can do an overlay and also you can make them longer if you want using forms or if one freaks you can literally rebuild it. I think you would enjoy those products more. Love from spain!

I tried this and it was an epic fail. My polish chipped within 3 days of a mani which it typically never does. When I opted to go back to 100% natural nails the gel base overlay was a beast to remove. I removed the polish then did the foil/soak method to remove tenges base. I was left with a decent amount of gel base on my nails so I tried a product that claims to remove the gel. It looks like a bottle of polish, you paint the product on, the gel bubbles up and you wipe it off. Worked nicely but so much easier to use nourishing non-acetone remover to remove regular polish.

My current nail tech is going on maternity leave soon and I have been trying to figure out what to do to my nails while she is out. I have a couple of months yet to get a light and a few of these supplies. Which biotin do you use? This was a very informative, thank you! Can’t wait to try this. She currently uses the Gel Bottle Inc products and I love how they come out on my nails but this will be a good alternative for me.

Have you found that primer or a rubber base coat doesn't work as well as sanding? My nails are super thin and any filing on the surface makes me nervous, esp since I have vertical splitting. 😬

I am like yourself...I am not really into the sanding as I would say that the more one manipulates the nail bed then the more damage one is creating likewise with our hair❤

Hi🙋 If you use regular nail polish over the gel you would use non acetone nail polish remover. If you were to use acetone to take nail polish off it will eat away at the gel underneath. Hope this helps.

This is a great idea, thank you so much. My nails are so dry from washing and antibacterial gel that I’ve had to keep them ultra short. Is this less difficult to remove due to only being two layers of gel?

Sooo easy to remove! Just like normal - remove the regular polish, buff the surface of the gel (which is 3 coats less than normal), and then use the remover clips or soak in acetone for maybe 10 mins! Takes barely any time!

No, in fact its not normally done with a base coat like she did, you should use a building gel ( similar to the stuff they use in gel nails) , they sell them also in formats like a bottle of polish so its very easy to use. I have heard good reviews of the gelish structure gel and I am the aimeili builder base. Make sure you use a dehydrator or alcohol and a ph bond before using these products :)
