I get it…can you help with SIFO or SIBO? I have mucus (long strings in stool) IBS mixed through the day. Low FODMAP hasn’t helped and waiting on my SIBO results

I get it! Awesome video again Amanda! I just had my SIBO retest (after one round of both antibiotics) and my Methane baselined at 12 and then dropped to between 9 and 10 for the duration. My hydrogen baseline at 7 jumped to 10 and then dropped from there. What level is an acceptable methane level? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated! -Emma

@@emam2752 Hi Ema, typically, methane at or above 10 ppm at any point in the test is considered positive. Hydrogen is at or above 20 ppm at 90 minutes or earlier during the test. Or a combined value of 30+ ppm at any point before 90 minutes. So still poositive, but is this an improvement from your previous test?

@@ConfluenceNutrition Amanda, thank you much for taking the time to respond! I was at 25 for methane in my previous test and they stopped it at 40 minutes, so this is a significant improvement. If the baseline is already at 12, does that potentially indicate the methane is coming from the large intestine rather than the small intestine. I don’t know if I will be able to get another round of antibiotics from my GI, but I have been taking Atrantil. At the moment I’m having significant bloating though. 😔😩 I've had many tests done at Cleveland Univ. and U of M....ultrasounds, also stool tests, mold tests....etc things to rule out things.... My biggest significant horrible symptom remains the bloating. I am still on lowfod foods...and no improvement in my bloating. Thank you again, any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Emma

@@emam2752 I'm glad your numbers have come down...that 12 is likely from the small, but it could be from either. Did you experience any relief at all from the treatment? If not, it's possible that your SIBO result is a "false flag". This does happen. But if I were you, I would probably try one more round, to see if I could get relief. The methane problem often masks a hydroge problem and that may emerge after another round of treatment. Don't give up! And if Low FODMAP hasn't made a difference, your food symptoms may be coming from a different problem. OR food may not be the problem at all. Either way, there is a lot you can do... did you know I'm hosting a webinar on THursday at 4 pm Pacific? I would love to invite you, you can register here: us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_JV8LbdrqR56mzyH5E22adg There will be replay if that time doesn't work for you, but register to make sure you get the replay link!

I think my gastroenterologist has pinpointed what's wrong with my gut: I have pelvic floor dysfunction due to years of chronic constipation. Specifically, I have anismus aka dyssynergic defecation, specifically paradoxical puborectalis syndrome. What all this means is the muscles of my rectum don't work -- they are unrelaxed and stiff like, rigor mortis! I've tried biofeedback training already. Didn't work. Now my specialist recommends botulinum toxin type A which is plain-old Botox, to relax the puborectalis muscle of the rectum. I'm concerned about cancer risk, but the internet is saying there is no reliable evidence this injection procedure causes cancer. Do you think me getting this procedure is worth the risk?

I had severe constipation as a teen. I think a damaged something because I always feel tenesmus and a bloated stomach. There is a strong fecal odor coming from me too, for the past 32 years -- destroyed my life. I'm applying for disability. Dr ordered: -- CBC -- DPH TSH WITH REFLEX TO T4, FREE -- TISSUE TRANSGLUTAMINASE IgA Do you suggest any other tests? Please help!

Hi there, I highly suggest a SIBO test, ideally the TrioSmart test. If they won't order, you can check out my video about ordering a SIBO test without a doctor, here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWOTgJxva79pl7M

I've been using Panaceum (Microbiome Support) which uses various oligosaccharides. It may be helping. I just need to get rid of this tenesmus and horrible odor that fills up a room like smoke. I have no relationships...it ruined my life and career.
