Great choice going to Elliott's! The sun sets early during Winter. If you come in July the sun sets at 9:00. The best crab is Dungeness. Get the whole crab and eat the "kane miso". One thing you should eat on a cold day at Elliott's is the cioppino. Great Italian style seafood soup. Hot and full of shellfish, crab, cod and veggies. I'm glad you got to go to Ivar's. Next trip, try feeding frys to the seagulls.

My husband used to work in the building above Elliott's--the views were distracting! Def. a great choice for oysters & the sunset. Kumamotos are an all-time favorite, and agree with other commenters that I hope you find some Dungeness crab while here or in Vancouver. It is a local specialty--we have come to love it more than lobster. Thanks again for sharing your trip!

Those fried clams have been a favorite of mine since I was a toddler. Next time you're in Seattle, get the red chowder. That's the original chowder recipe served at Ivar's. I don't go for that new fangled white chowder they've been serving.

A tip from a local; if you want to eat crab, buy it at Pike Place Market and eat it at home or in a park. Its much cheaper that way. Dungeness is my favorite, followed closely by King.

Great video and great spots! I used to work at Ivar's, brings back memories (back then we got free meals). Hopefully next time you will have a car and can experience some small mom and pop shops throughout the area. Mignonette is a very common thing you will find across Seattle when ordering oysters. My favorite oysters in the area are Taylors Kumamoto and Shigoku. I get them from Taylor farms up in Chuckanut, very cool place to visit in the summer. The area produces a lot of melon flavored oysters, which I prefer over the briny flavors.

Nice video! I haven't been to Elliot's in at least 30 or 40 years. Nice walk down memory lane. My dad is a HUGE Ivar's fan. He used to fly up from California just to eat at Ivar's, and then fly back down the same day. lol. It's not the /best/ fish and chips in the world, but definitely the best fast food fish place you'll probably find. (Oh .. and it is pronounced like "divers" as opposed to "die-VARs". Although, I never really thought about how the spelling is totally not like it sounds.) Did you guys get to ride the ferry? Even just a quick ride over to Bainbridge Island is worth it. It's so nice to ride on it and just enjoy the scenery. I used to go do a bunch of back and forth rides on the ferry (same price as a one-way if you don't get off the boat) and just meditate while looking out at the water and mountains. Can't wait for the next one!

Aloha Amanda & Felix. The seafood looked delicious! I love crab (king is my favorite) I normally go for the legs, but the claw has a lot of meat as well. try Kusshi for oysters, very good too. do not go for keta salmon, that is chum.... not the most prized salmon. if you eat salmon, go with King (Chinook), or sockeye, or coho even. if you ever have the chance, get copper river coho or sockeye. If you're in Seattle or Vancouver, go for Dungeness. when you're in Vancouver, you should try local sea urchin, so good from colder waters.

Yes! Elliott's! That would've been my seafood recommendation. I used to go all the time when my mom visited from Hawaii. My favorites were Kumamotos. I live here. It’s’ not that magical. I’m surprised people in a first world country never seen a robot coffee maker before, lol. Would it blow your mind if i tell you there are also robots cooks, bartenders and even third world countries have them, for years already. Pike market is a tourist trap, so are the first Starbucks, their flagship store and most of the food joints around that spot.
