Here's my hot take. I don't find Christine to be a compelling villain character. She's not quick on her feet and she's shy when it comes to confrontations. The best reality TV villains are witty and say what they have to say, so when the ladies talk her up like she's this big bad, it creates these anticlimactic moments like Christine at that tea party trying her hardest to shed a tear and being evasive. The producers just put all their eggs in the Christine basket when she can't deliver. You can really tell they have no idea where the show is going to go. Personally I'd like a soft reset. Dial it back a bit. Maybe the girls don't always have to be in heels and the latest runway pieces. That made sense for Christine and now Chelsea, but I really missed how some of the other girls in the office styled themselves in season 1. Over the years it's just devolved into a wonky retelling of Mean Girls with Louboutins.

That’s because Christine is more of a narcissistic villain lol. And I love her still that’s no shade but narcissists don’t want to make themselves look bad in public. Everything she does is sneaky and underhanded more like, and she never admits or owns up to anything on camera really. But yeah, that kinda ruins the whole point of the show

This is so true. They geared up for a big confrontation, and she just ran away and begged them to talk to her one on one. Hardly compelling drama.

I mean I disagree. It’s very entertaining to have seen how Christine twists stories and manipulated right in front of our eyes. If anything it’s somewhat better then drama straight to it’s face all the time. Also Christine has done a lot of confrontation as well lol

Great analysis! To add: for all the “girl boss” vibes they want to project, they are very, immensely trapped into traditional roles (women as wives, women as moms), and there’s an impossibility to see themselves otherwise. The other aspect that, of course, isn’t mentioned or touched upon is the housing crisis, gentrification and displacement. The sheer amount of size a mcmansion in LA has and its costs, especially considering the housing crisis, the water scarcity… I’m mind-blown. Plus, at the end of the day, all those houses look the same: white on white, infinity pool…

You struck a REALLY great balance of social commentary whilst also understanding that sometimes people just want escapism. I agree about critiquing all of things we consume since they can become so much of how our lives are shaped.

I love this show but I watch it alone as a guilty pleasure. It is nice that you (as a young African-American) reviewed this because I had no one to talk to or listen to about it (as a middle-aged African -American woman in real estate). It's pretty to look at. I look at it as if someone said, "Let me put on a doll show for you, but these dolls work in the REALLY expensive real estate world and their goal is to make money and hope they will catch a really rich husband so they won't have to do this anymore." That is the way I enjoy it. The romances, the clothes and the beauty make me smile. Even though I know the real winners are the Oppenheimer Brothers, I root for each one of the women and deep down inside I hope they find what they are looking for and don't get bad knees from wearing those awful high heeled shoes all over the place that men don't wear! Thank you again for this review!

In the beginning i really liked the show. I didn't mind the little bit of drama here and there but the drama ended becoming stale to me. I get that in real life, the struggles people have day-to-day are pretty similar, slow and repetitve but in this show..it felt too poorly carried out. It became a childish mess to me.

so interesting watching skinny white ladies on the same planet as me, yet worlds away. i havent finished the vid yet, but i enjoy selling sunset in an “i want your situation but would never want to be you type of way”. when i watched szn 1-4, i was physically disgusted by christine & couldn’t understand how she still had friends & SUPPORTERS ⁉️ i still strongly dislike her now that szn 5 is out, but i’m starting to see what christine meant by the girls ganged up on her to straight up bully her. christine is a nasty person, but i’m not sure if i like emma any more. chrishell is so sweet & deserves a lot. they’re all clearly fake & some are less fake under the guise of being “real”. plastic regardless

It's weird to me how fake these types of shows are. They are very entertaining tho. I also live fairly close to sunset, and occasionally i have close encounters with people who are not unlike the characters of the show. I don't know what's stranger: the fact that all of it seems fake, or that i catch glimpses of people who play out their lives as if this was the archetype they chose to follow.

I loved the summary of each season! Amazing job! But there is some misinfo in this, when it comes to real estate, they actually ARE their own bosses, they “hang their license” at the brokerage, however this does NOT mean that they are Jason and Brett’s employees. & they are not W2 employees at all, they are all have their own llcs or whatever they chose to put their business under.

I notice a lot of creators saying "thanks to x for sponsoring this part of the video". Do they say "this part" for legal reasons/so the sponsorship doesn't interfere with what creators are trying to say in the rest of the video? Or in case the sponsorship becomes problematic so they're not associated with the entire video? I know this is a pedantic thing to wonder about but I'm curious 😂 does anyone know? P.S. awesome video per usual ❤️
@meaganl124
@meaganl124 2 жыл бұрын
Not legal advice but entertainment lawyer here! You have to say it so it’s clear to “average viewers” that they’re about to view an ad. There’s a lot of issues, especially for sponsorships to younger demographics on this site, bc the sponsorship may tie in well to the video itself or the visual isn’t at all distinct in the creator’s background or outfit Not at all for the two reasons you suggested above, but I hope that clarifies this!
