Killing Stalking and Fifty Shades are nothing alike. The fact that Sangwoo sees his "ideal prey" in women who look like his mother is actually a kind of common trait for serial killers whose victim type often shares similarities of some kind with the person who triggered their trauma - if they have one, or tend to recreate the situation that made them "lose it" in a way that makes them feel dominant over it. Besides, Bum's "love" is clearly depicted as an obsession that defies all logics and there is no BDSM or bullshit like 'relationship rules' going on between them (the only 'rule' comes from the fact that Sangwoo surely doesn't want to end up in jail, and Bum doesn't want that either). I'm pretty sure Killing Stalking author wasn't inspired by 50 Shades of Gray at all, also because one of Killing Stalking themes (which is deeply tied to how the characters look and act) is a critique of certain aspects of the South Korean society. Whereas Fifty Shades is simply a badly written smutty fic focusing an unintentionally abusive relationship that is portrayed as desirable.

Bring Back KP, Animated Obviously /CrisisOnFire1977 I really liked what Rian came up with regarding the Jedi and the force bond. Killing Snoke was only a poor decision because JJ didn’t know what to do after that. Hey, I just wanted to put this out there, the "contract" he wants her to sign? The one that says stuff like "The Dominant may use the Submissive's body at any time" and "The Submissive is the property of the Dominant"? Yeah, I think that's a standard Master/slave contract. Really hardcore people in the BDSM lifestyle may enter into Master/slave relationships, where it says the Master (Dominant) has all the control over the slave (submissive). But all that stuff in there is just for show and to perpetuate the roleplay. They establish the hard limits before the relationship begins, and the slave still has a safe word if things get out of hand. What I'm saying is, the slave is still an autonomous human being with rights, and the Master respects their wishes even though they're in such a hardcore relationship. But notice how I keep saying _hardcore_ . M/s relationships aren't for everyone, they are up there in kink. It takes an experienced Dom and an experienced sub to make a M/s relationship work, instead of verging into abuse territory. To present an inexperienced person with a contract like that is like making someone who's built model airplanes as a hobby fly a jet. They don't have the experience to know what to do or how to navigate, so doing that would be irresponsible beyond belief. Also, all M/s contracts are marked M/s. I'm pretty sure EL James copied that contract off a website, changed M/s to Dominant and Submissive, and pasted it into her fanfiction. Which is extremely disingenuous.
@skeetsmcgrew32824 жыл бұрын
You can't sign yourself into slavery, that's not how contracts work. I could sign that right now and it would mean nothing
@Anna-tk7ui4 жыл бұрын
@@skeetsmcgrew3282 Exactly, it's just a roleplay. It has no legal binding. It's just to get the participants in the mood. As well as to outline the hard limits and what the relationship would entail. Christian is treating these types of contacts like they ARE legally binding, which they aren't.

Honestly the medulla oblongata thing sounds pretty loyal to Twilight. That's what made me give up halfway through reading Twilight--it made me so mad how Stephanie Meyer thinks "smart people" talk and act. Because liking Jane Austen and listening to Claire de Lune (honestly, of all classical pieces) and understanding the difference between telophase and anaphase at 17 *does not make you special.* It just makes it clearer how not at all classically-inclined the author is and demeans those of us who are actually are by associating us with the piece of soggy bread that is Bella Swan. She also occasionally pulls out her Alexisonfire shirt for her videos and I always fanboy so hard when she does, I’m still pissed that them and Billy Talent never crossed over to the mainstream here in the US, I don’t even hate Simple Plan has much as everyone else seems to but I really wish that AOF and BT would have had the crossover success over here that SP got, granted I heard that SP was pretty much inescapable up north and while they were really popular in the states for a few years, it was Nothing compared to their success and ubiquity in Canada, where they apparently had NSYNC and Backstreet Boys in their prime level Of industry status, despite being a pop punk band (also unlike Blink, Sum 41, and Green Day, they were only played on pop radio), again don’t hate them but that must have sucked, since they were easily the weakest of the TRL pop punk bands

What pisses me off about Stephanie Meyer and E.L. James is that they make their characters use highfalutin words that is soooooooo out of place. Like, no teenager or people in their early 20's ever say those words out loud or even think it in their internal monologue. I get that Meyer tried to build her character on "born in the wrong century" to match with Edward but holy shit she just keeps making her sound pretentious and less realistic.

I remember reading FSOG and thinking; "Wow. There are so many similarities between this and Twilight" and that was *before* I knew that it started off as Twilight fanfiction. The similarities were everywhere, from the description of what the characters looked like ie: Ana/Bella; slight, pale, long dark hair(the only difference was is the eyes) and Christian/Edward; tall, handsome, kind of copper to auburn hair(again, eyes) to the make up of Edwards/Christian's family ie: the male parent whose name starts with a "C". The doctor parent who *saved* him, an older *brother* who is very loud and outgoing(Emmett/Elliott). A younger *sister* who is described as being petite with short black hair and is "difficult to rein in". Also there's the similarities between Ana's family and Bella's. They are really everywhere. But knowing that FSOG originally started out as Twilight fanfiction just clarified things so much for me. Sorry if this came across as way too much detail, these are just some similarities that I noticed right off the bat, that not a lot of people seem to mention, and I wanted a chance to talk about them. 🙂

The thing that bugs me the most about this person is the following: She ripped off someone else's idea/s completely, didn't suffer the consequences because Mayer didn't want to sue, and she could've. On the other hand, Mitchel is not shy about threatening or suing anybody who even thinks about publishing anything that resembles 'her' books. So yes, Mitchel is an unredeemable, uncreative, hypocritical, ignorant person. For more on the matter feel free to watch the video 'Lukewarm defense of 50 shades', it is enlightening.

tbf the end product is nothing like Twilight. If Meyer actually went to court, I don't believe she could have won. Even the original fanfiction only used the names of twilight characters. Not the setting, their personalities, the story, the lore, or basically anything. 50 shades and Twilight do not share more similarities to each other than any other romance novel in the genre.
@LxstinNeverland3 жыл бұрын
In the fanfiction world, it doesn't quite work the same. As the commenter above said, Twilight and 50 shades are nothing alike so Meyer wouldn't have been able to do much about it. That's how fanfiction works. If you change enough about the characters and world, you can legally publish it because it's different enough to not be copyrighted. I wouldn't really say she ripped off someone else's idea, considering 50 shades is NOTHING like Twilight. She just wanted to use someone else's names. As for the abuse and toxicity in 50 shades, that's a whole other issue that needs to be dealt with.
@KevinThePilgrim3 жыл бұрын
@@LxstinNeverland Well, I agree. But you can't deny she basically ripped Meyer's idea of writing the same story from the other main character's POV. Wonder if she's ever gonna write the trilogy but gender reversed. Seeing how James is everything but creative.

@@beth7935 in Folding Ideas' trilogy of videos on the movies, he discusses at one point the backstage drama EL James caused on the first movie, like yelling at the director for an hour in front of cast and crew over a line of dialogue, and then replaced both said director and I think the head writer or something with a more obedient director and her own husband for the two sequels.
