So true and once she finally got it she became pregnant practically immediately. I remember she wanted to keep Renesmee regardless that she would be doomed unless she became a vampire immediately after the baby was born. Then she would have to endure 3 days of agony before she would be a vampire. That always made me think of opiate withdrawal. If taking really good opiates it takes a bit longer but the first 3 days are the worst.

Carley, Midnight Sun is a crack fic. You have to give it a whirl at least once. Highlights below: "One tear still glistened in the corner of her left eye, shining in the brightness of the room. A tiny, clear piece of her, an ephemeral diamond. Acting on some strange instinct, I reached out to catch it with my fingertip. Round on my skin, it sparkled as my hand moved. I swiftly touched my finger to my tongue, tasting her tear, absorbing this minute particle of her. She stared at me curiously, but I had no sane way to explain." "Like a stalker. An obsessed stalker. An obsessed vampire stalker." The most wild part of it is that the cultural zeitgeist has changed so much since she wrote Twilight. She had every opportunity to reframe what happened in the original books to meet the criticisms people have had for YEARS about the books and Edward as a romantic lead. Instead, she doubled down and made Edward EVEN MORE PROBLEMATIC. Truly, a feat.

My other favorite part of Midnight Sun was that while she was half dead in the hospital he's already planning to leave her for dead in the woods in a few months. He had a LOT of time to think about his breakup plan, and that was still the one he went for, and I absolutely love that. Why would I stick around and make the person I supposedly love into a vampire and be with them forever when I could leave them, established to be clumsy and not a woodsy person who was likely to know their way around in there, to die in the woods? And then put them in a position where they're forced to save MY life a book later because I couldn't take two seconds to make sure it was their funeral? Idk the logic just logics doesn't it
@rica3947 Жыл бұрын
i think the only thing to be said in Edwards defense (and I'm a big Edward hater lol) is that he only took her like 100 ft away from her own house, so like literally just around the corner, but instead of simply going home, Bella decided to "follow" Edward into the forrest. But him planning to leave her was so fucking insane on god

The plot holes my friend. The fact she wrote the books so fast is insane too. I believe Twillight was only this huge hit because Stephanie had an Idea at the Right time. Because I know a way better book who was also a best-seller AND have a way better written story which was inspired by Twillight by the way, that never got any movies, and people don't even think or talk about them, which are the Tiger's Curse Saga. The books are good, well written for the public it was aimed and the fact that THAT series was born of the lack of Twillight is just a gem on itself. Such a shame when Tiger's Curse was released, there was way too many books following the footsepts of Twillight, and only an Erotica Fanfic would be able to achieve the same level of success afterwards. Again, E. L. James had the right idea at the right time. She may be a copycat, but the girl knows how to take an opportunity and USE IT. xD

This reminded me of being deep into the twilight fandom in middle school and scrolling through a twilight news blog and seeing a fan made craft which was Bella’s womb and fetus made of felt and it haunts me to this day

carley consistently serving the content i never knew i needed. currently trying to break my friend into agreeing to a twilight movie marathon (they have never experienced the beauty of the saga). so far i have negotiated doing it over two days and a sleepover so we can watch breaking dawn first thing after we wake up.

They did actually cast a real baby and several real kids and an older actress to play the different versions of Renesmee during the film, they just CGI’d Mackenzie Foy’s face over all of them until the point where it was supposed to be Mackenzie playing child Renesmee. Still rightfully unsettling, of course.

To be a fly on the wall when S.M. found out about the 50 shades books. I'm sure she almost had a aneurysm. 😂😅

Not me reading fifty shades when it was still a fic, I did it cause every one was talking about it and I was curious, it was very boring. Maybe it took so long to finish midnight sun exactly because Edward has those insane thoughts about insects and Stephanie needed to find all that fun facts. Twilight never gonna stop being iconic

I was so young when this happened but I was part of the problem...I downloaded and read that shit SO MANY TIMES. I was heartbroken when she said she wasn't going to finish it and literally judged that woman SO HARD.

I remember reading the leaked Midnight Sun chapters secretly, because there was this thing where everyone thought it wouldn't be published if the leak got too big so loads of people abstained to make Stephanie happy lol

Carley, I LOVE your deep dives and your unhinged summaries, analyses, highlights etc so much, they give me life, they keep me entertained, i watch the whole thing,I don’t have to set the playback speed to 1.5x, I even enjoy your videos on topics I know nothing about. Thank you, sincerely.

Honestly, I read Midnight Sun and enjoyed it. The Remember Twilight podcast is great when it comes to criticising the books and giving credit where credit is due. And to be fair, I read everything in my late 20s. I read it for entertainment not to dissect the book nor to take dating advice (as some seem to do... 😔).

16:30 if E and L would not have a space in-between, it just would say: "the james" .... also 50 shades of gray is just a book about a woman being traumatized and crying under the shower, tying to cope, probably needing therapy for a couple years while a couple million dry housewives get off to it.... also 26:25 once you see Edwards wings, you cant unsee them : 3

Honestly, I would love a series of just Carley explaining everyday modern things to a Victorian child. Imagine trying to explain fanfic, Wattpad, 1D, and After.

Some buzzfeed type social media company once asked on Facebook who everyone’s least favourite actor was. I scrolled the comments and quite literally 1 in 3 said Jane Fonda and I was so confused so I googled it. It was literally the most boomer energy I have ever encountered, and reminded me why I only interact with my craft groups on fb😳

I’ve been through a journey with this series. I was completely obsessed when it came out. Then I think the misogyny got to my head and I was hate-obsessed, now I love it again for the camp that it is. The only thing I really cannot forgive is Stephenie using an actual tribe of people, bastardized their origin stories to hell, profited off it, and never thanked them, gave back to their community or encourage her fans to, or even bother apologizing. She used them as a prop in her storyline without a second thought or any remorse. The Quileute Tribe still lives out there and have been fighting to move to higher grounds because they are currently at risk from tsunamis. They’ve been working on this before Twilight became a hit and people can donate to the cause on their website.

The 9/11 references were especially appropriate considering we would not have the Twilight Saga without that event. Meyer has talked about how Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance inspired a lot of Edward's character with their whole vampire stick in the Three Cheers era. Gerard only started the band after being traumatized witnessing 9/11 while working in nyc. 9/11 = MCR = Twilight = 50 Shades.

Summer 2008: my parents were going on a cruise for their anniversary and mom and I had just finished Twilight book 1 at the same time. I wanted to read New Moon first but they were leaving the next day and mom wanted to take NM with her. SO I stayed up all night to finish NM in one sitting so mom could take it on their trip.
