None of them are. Most women just settle for a guy who is halfway decent. If he doesn't hit her or cheat on her he must be a keeper. If he doesn't steal all her savings then manipulate her into being a heroin mule, he will proclaim he is a 'nice guy'. Even Ana's friend the artist, who is supposed to be a foil- a 'nice guy' compared to Christian is totally okay with coercing drunk sex from a friend a girl who felt safe with him- essentially date rape frat boy style- & is so WOUNDED after he doesn't get to have his way because she likes Christian better, that he rationalizes it away as she must be a mercenary golddigger who only is with Christian because he is rich. He isn't repentant & she is supposed to still consider him a friend & pretend that he didn't try to do something repulsive & then justify it. I'll prob catch all kinds of hell for this comment but I am very cynical so of all the men portrayed in the book- Ana's stepdad is the best & they throw out red herrings about her dad that they never follow up on, but Christian is presented as the romantic protagonist because Ana is into him. He is the one she chooses to have stalk her with impunity. She might have drawn a line had she seen him kick a puppy or something. Maybe.

Total Power Exchange is a thing^^ But still you do not attempt TPE with a total novice and you certainly do not stalk people because you think they are hot. It isn't unreasonable that a dom would want control even outside of the bedroom, it is unreasonable that Christian just takes it without even asking first if Ana would be willing to give him that kind of control. And judging from the "fingering at the dinner table" scene a even kinda reasonable dude would have realised that he was not respecting boundaries that were set...

@mariekedeelen-dokter85473 жыл бұрын
Not online because he is so desperate for her to stay, but also because it is the only thing he knows. He never had a healthy relationship. He was a submisive and later on a dom. Thats it. By kneeling he showed her she has power over him, he shows her how much he cares for her. For someone as controlling as he is, thats a big step. Because love is letting go, trust, support. Amanda, the wonen that made this review doesn't want too pshyo-analyse the movies, but that is what this franchise is about; a man who never had a real girlfriend because he was abused, falls in love. Too handle his abuse he chooses a verry controlling way of sex. But it is a form based on consent. He tries to get her to accept his form but little by little she gets him to accept her form. Like Christiaan said to Elena; " You teached me how too fuck Anastasia teached me how to love. And yes Christiaan does need help. That is why he hired a pshyciatrist. Christiaan dispite his accomplisment, has low selfesteem , real abandoning issues and thinks himself a monster. The pshyciatrist told Anastasia that she made more progress with Christiaan than he did in years. So please pshyco-analyse this franchise, its about Christiaan's dealing with his past ( and its about sex, a lot of it) At least it was until that 🤬 helicopter crash was entered

My God, it's like the movie is BEGGING from the inside out like "Please!! Please let me be a psychological thriller instead of a romance!!! It would be SO EASY!" Ana tells Christian about meeting that weird girl in the street? It's obvious that Christian knows who she is? And then suddenly Ana starts receiving threats like her car being destroyed? And Christian's immediate response is to declare it must have been Stalker Girl and insist that Ana submit herself to his "protection"? _Obviously_ the way to go from here is for it to turn out that _Christian orchestrated the threats all along_ and merely blamed it all on Stalker Girl so that Ana would be scared enough to do whatever he says, so he would be free to control every move she makes and be justified in getting mad at her for disobeying him since, after all, he's only looking out for her safety! There's a dangerous woman out there who wants to get you, Ana! Only I can protect you, Ana! But then, like I said, it turns out that he's behind it all and in reality Stalker Girl, as Christian's mentally-broken ex-sub, wants to warn Ana that he's no good. "He ruined my life, don't get caught in his web and let him ruin yours" kind of thing. But no, EL James wants to insist against ALL THE ODDS that Christian is in fact the good guy, and everyone else really _is_ out to get Ana.

Every time I think about 50 Shades I just...... die a little inside at the wasted potential for a dark psychological thriller that deals with the splintering psyche of a rich cishet white dude trying to leverage the imagery and language of a community that was created as an escape from the standards of people like him in service of his abuse, realizing it's not working, and going off the deep end as he fails to sink his claws into something he wants for the first time in his life.

Fifty shades is a franchised based on torture for entertainment. Meaning that it's entertaining to torture Amanda by making her watch the whole franchise.

Should’ve asked for 10K likes, Freed is the worst one.

Well, she's got 10k likes now, so she'd have to do it anyway.

My single mother was a crack addict who died when I was 15, putting me in detroit foster care, to which I ran away from and spent my youth homeless with no parents. Am I a self-absorbed and abusive person? No, because I understand what pain is and would rather try to help others from experiencing it. We are not PRODUCTS of our environment, we are merely influenced by it. It is our CHOICES that define us as people. The fact that they keep throwing that in as if it makes him abusive is ridiculous. As if rich white men would only do this of they had a impoverished and abusive childhood L M F A O

It's so contrived. The author even seems to be aware of how people should react, but forces the situations anyway. EDIT: Your reviews, though, are great. :) Thank you for suffering so we don't have to. ;)

"I'm going to watch the last one because I'm sort of invested " *dead glare at the camera* "But I would STILL like my likes PLEASE!" xD That mad me laugh, even chuckling while writing this. I'm sorry for your pain, but it is fun to watch.

Have you read the recaps by Jenny Trout and the Snark Squad? They're amazing. This is the shit that makes you go "Actually not a better love story than Twilight."

I haven't! I'll check it out. And yeah, 100% not a better love story than the thing it started from

@@AmandaTheJedi Jenny Trout goes into a full mental breakdown by the third book. She literally tried, and could not make it through "Grey" because of how fucking toxic and misogynistic it was.

This movie is like getting ass raped by Katana's sword from Suicide Squad because It's painful in ways you don't want to think and it steals a part of your soul-Jeremy Jahns

Umberto Eco has a short story about this progression of stages as it pertains to somewhat healthy relationships. His point was that when the relationship goes stagnant in order to have something else to talk about there's first an engagement and marriage and then children. Of course not quite the same thing as the controlling behaviors that are par for the course in an abusive relationship, but mentioning this progression here just reminded me of said story.

The only time owning people is ok is when they're being adopted by their cats and/or dogs. Cat owns human and the house, human pays the mortgage. It's kitty law 😻💖

I remember watching this movie online, cause I was bored as hell, and I decided to watch it as a horror movie. I was genuinely uncomfortable and scared. If I had anyone like Grey in my life, I would emigrate to another continent ti run away from this dude.
