Fun Fact: in the scenes where you can see Christian's pubes, they are actually CGI pubes added in post to cover up the seam of the skin-colored underwear he was wearing. This means someone had to CGI pubes onto Jamie Dornan. Also, José is still there because in the fanfiction he's Jacob, and you can't just write him out of the fic, or Team Jacob would riot.

Thing about abusive men is that *of course* you can capture snapshots here and there of them being on their best behaviour. Appearing to be the best dad, the best husband, the best friend, the best worker or boss etc. And the targets of abuse tend not to be wallflowers, they tend to stand up for themselves over and over and over again throughout the relationship, in both overt and covert ways. And abusers always whine about how they only commit abuse because of their past hardships - to them, their own feelings matter so much more than the feelings of their targets. Odds are, this "happy ending" is really just the beginning of how bad Christian's abuse will get towards Ana and their children.

I'm an avid fanfictions reader and there are so many amazing, brilliantly written stories with great characters building and storylines and yet fanfictions like Twilight and 50 shades were picked up to be published? It's like mainstream publishers deliberately try to find the bad ones to keep maintaining the stigmas that fanfictions are trashy and basically a self insert amateur pornographies.
@mahogara4 жыл бұрын
@J R I won't disagree with that. I guess I'm just really good at avoiding them now that I've been reading fanfictions for years, so you can see the signs whether the story is going to be a train wreck (I mean there are only so many different ways you could write a self insert story and after a while, you find out the patterns). One thing I like that you pointed out (and it might have been in one of the earlier videos) is how much this played to middle-aged women. This book and movie really brought out that issue that was prevalent with women of my generation, and it's both sad and disappointing. I had been pointing out for many years that there seemed to be a major problem with girls and women making self-destructive decisions in romance. Hell, it was difficult for a guy to even get noticed if he wasn't being a douche. I know this is sort of something that's often been pointed out with cliches of "nice guys finish last" or "ladies like bad boys," but it really seemed particularly extreme in the 80s, 90s, and 00s. I was called bitter and even sexist over and over again for pointing this out. But when this "50 Shades" series came out, and we saw SOOOO many women of my generation swoon over it, but the younger women and girls didn't so much, it really showed that it was a generational thing. The numbers don't lie, and women of my generation were the ones calling this abusive behavior "romantic," the very thing I had been trying to point out for so long. Now, after thinking about it a lot, I think it has to do with the fact that we were raised by the Baby Boomers; a generation that was itself transitioning from tradition to progressive, and women of my generation got mixed messages which led to a sort of identity crisis; causing a very large number of them to turn to abusive men and thinking anything else was "boring." I don't know specifically what it was, but it would be interesting for a sociologist to study.
@Eris_Norregard4 жыл бұрын
It seems to me you made quite a good study by yourself. You actually pointed out some interesting parts, and I agree that it's probably a generational thing. I'm in my early twenties and I haven't met a single person of my age, female or male, that thought the story was romantic. Every person I spoke to (and it was a lot of people, trust me) was exactly as horrified as we were.

I agree that it's a generational thing. I see so many middle aged women married to men who are douchebags and treat them poorly and the saddest part is that they have endured the abuse for years or decades, too afraid to leave their abusers for good

my (ex)friend made me watch shades with her, saying "this is what she wants in a relationship." i straight up told her "oh so this is why you were in a abusive relationship for 3 years" she locked herself in the bathroom, crying. she didnt know that her relation was abusive behavior.

lol at 5:05 that guy Ana is interviewing? He plays the main werewolf in the tv show Teen Wolf. His character is named Derek. Suits pretty well for a movie that ripped off Twilight fanfiction to have an actor who played a werewolf.

RE: Gin: So while both gins while go well with Lime, and most gin has flowery notes, Hendrick’s is specifically Cucumber and Rose, therefore Southsides and Romeo & Juliet’s taste better with Hendrick’s. (Cucumber in Southside and Rose Water in R&J’s.) Bombay is Juniper, and botanical in general, with hints of citrus, hence the Lime request, I assume. Bombay is my preferrence for Gin and Tonic’s, it’s widely available, inexpensive, and Tonic (with quinine) pairs well with the flowery, botanical notes of Bombay. Also, Tanqeray was surveyed to be the best Gin for Negroni’s. This magazine questioned a bunch of drinkers and top cocktail bar bartenders. It might’ve been Tanqueray No. 10. But still, its flowery notes overpower the herb/spice and bring out the flowery notes in the Canpari.

Nit picking but Edward and his family were most often shown driving around Volvos. I understand thats is pretty easy to mix up, they're both big name European car manufacturers. As soon as you said "Edward drives an Audi." it just didn't sound right to my Twilight-educated ears.

I'm pretty sure Edward must have had an Audi at some point because it's mentioned that he and Rosalie have a thing for fancy cars and they have a huge collection of them. So it's not unlikely. I know that his favorite one was an Aston Martin or something.

Just to answer why José is still relevant: he still is Ana's best friend and has to fulfil the role of Twilight's Jacob. Jacob kisses Bella against her will and José tries to kiss Ana against her will. And I think that the movies mixed two characters into one because in the book Mia starts dating Kate's brother but in the movies it seems like she is dating José

Haven't watched any of these movies. But I bet watching reviews where they talk about just how bad this series has been is more fun. It's funny that I am still getting recommended these reviews, further tells you just how bad these movies are if people are still sh*tting on it.

Same. Never read them, never watched them but somehow I know all about them from commentators. I'll prolly find some other shitty things if I watch them by myself, but life is too short for bad books and movies.

I watched the movies (with friends to shit talk about it) even with shit talking it was super incredibly boring. I am completely unable to tell you what happens in the first one and it's two hours of movie. There is no plot. At least the other have a little more plots. I didn't make it through the last one tho. Cuz my friend had to leave and no way I'm watching that alone. But yeah it's way worth it, when in doubt, reminds yourself that each movie are 2 hours to 2 and a half hour. Imagine how much Amanda had to cut and edit out well those are the moments where absolutely nothing happens definitely not fun. And nothing happens even in the sex scene, it's really weird.

@@ArturGlass.C 100% agree. I actually like bad movies because I find it funny making fun of them. But those movies ? They're just incredibly BORING. And I watched ALL of them. The third one is actually the worst in my opinion because even action scenes are stupid, but not in a funny way. So yeah even if you like bad movies, don't give it a try, it's not worth it. But commentary of these movies? I love them lol

@@Theanine95 If you like "fun bad" stuff then I recommend Netflix's Another Life. It is BAD, like BAD BAD. You'll laugh at the show, not with it.
