I read the series in my junior & senior year of high school in the late 90’s. I don’t remember all of the details. Because of that, I’m enjoying season 2 more than S1 and Interview with the Vampire. Anyhow, I appreciate these reviews, because it helps me remember what I’ve forgotten over the yrs.

Ive never felt so bittersweet about a character being rewritten or replaced. I´d have kept out all of the sexual stuff, but Mona was Mona. And what´s going to happen when we get to Blackwood Farm? Quinn and his Ophelia was THE definition of romance when I read the book at 14. Also, how many more redheads can they take from me!!!??? with that being said, let´s give Moira a chance to be her own great character

Yeah I liked this episode more than I liked pretty much any episode of season 1. There was significant improvement in multiple different areas, IMO. We will have to wait and see if the improvements continue to keep happening as the season goes on ... There is always a chance that they might drop the ball...but yeah as of the first episode things are looking good, IMO. Significantly better than season 1.

@ these books are impossible to adapt, especially to TV. So I knew it was gonna be bad but not this bad. Maybe they will somehow tie it together by the end of the season
@lenoraGrayce21 күн бұрын
@@seriouscomedy936 that’s because the show is terrible. It doesn’t have to be exactly like the books, but the tone is completely off. It feels like a CW teenage supernatural show.

Sad they cut or changed so many characters. They could have easily aged up Mona to a 16/17 y/o,,, plenty of teen TV shows with teen sexcapades. Read this series in high school and never thought it was that over the top that the whole story would need changing for a TV show. There are plenty more movies out there that are way more graphic than these books.

Do we need to red flag Anne Rice for her storyline choices?
@AnxietyRat3 күн бұрын
I mean it comes with the territory of the genre... She primarily writes within Gothic horror. And you know certain genres have certain tropes and themes that are REALLY common... And in the Gothic literature genre...sexual assault and incest are really common themes... So she's not uniquely fucked in the head for adding these themes into the books that she is writing ... Because she chose a VERY specific genre to explore these themes because it's kind of the exact genre that allows authors to explore these specific plotpoints. 🤷♀️ I suppose you can read flag her if you want... Her books definitely are not everyone's cup of tea. but yeah she is nowhere near the only author under this specific genre of book that is writing about these themes. As I said, it's a pretty common theme of the genre. If you read Gothic literature you go into it prepared for there to be sexual assault and incest and other really dark content, essentially.
