This man is poetic. We pray to conserve his perspective and this human spirit. I pray that his family’s homestead will be restored. This heritage cannot be replaced ; they are one of a kind.

This is a valid concern; you have people move from your community, you loses the neighborhood. It isn't the structures, it is the people.

This was great. Really helped to appreciate what it’s felt like to live through these fires. As a non-Californian I also don’t know the histories of any LA neighborhoods besides Hollywood and Beverly Hills, so it was interesting to get a recent history of Altadena.

SoCal is in a tough spot. With Property Insurance now super costly, any wildfire wrecks any stabilization of the SoCal property insurance market. I know because I lived and owned a house there for the past 37 years on north OC. We moved recently, but those devil Santa Ana winds are terrible and spawns fires there. SoCal is a beautiful place to live, but becoming more expensive every day. God Bless all of the residents of SoCal.

My wife and I have lived in Altadena 38 years and lost our home in the fire. Mr. Williams' description of what makes Altadena special is the most eloquent I have ever heard and I agree with everything he said. I have been telling everyone who has reached out to us in this time of trouble, and there have been many, that as heartbreaking as the loss of our home and possessions has been, in some ways the potential loss of our community is worse. I am a white person and my wife is latina. One of the things we cherished most about Altadena was its economic and racial diversity, and we want to fully support the rebuilding of Altadena's historic black community.

Many home owners don't have home insurance or their home insurance got cancelled or they don't have the correct insurance. Dealing with the insurance companies could take years, plus you have to get a permit to rebuild your home and that could take years too.

The building material burned to dust or went up in smoke then resettled. It is everywhere now. How do you really clean that up? How much will be removed from the environment? The whole area for acres and acres is a toxic waste site. 3 to 6 months? I don't know about that timeframe, seems optimistic. The medical effects of such contamination can take decades to appear. Lithium batteries in e cars were burned. Asbestos dust from older homes. I don't know.

The houses are made of wood in CA. They are just as much a fire spreader as the dry brush. A sad story. Areas change, neighborhoods transform all the time in racial and ethnic composition. 2020 Altadena was only 18% black, it was 31% in 2000. It was a dwindling black population the last few decades even before the fire. Hispanic population has grown in Altadena.

Paying tax. Isn't that insurance? A service? This was a total BREACH OF SERVICE. Something that could have been just a minor incident escalated due to lack of leadership and lack of action. Now people whose house was paid off have nothing. This has got to b the worst blunder by any government.

When you pay sales tax on a new car, have you prepaid for automatic insurance for next 25 years-❓❓❓❓❓❓I don’t think so. So where do you get this crazy idea of BREACH OF SERVICE

In the past the percentage of Black folks living there was higher back in the day. 20 percent is high for a California community, present day.
