Someone who loves this song as much as you would be absolutely the most critical. So for someone to win your heart, they have to be extra great. Because your standards are at the highest. And then there is Dimash. Great reaction.

Dimash had a week to learn this song for the competition. His native tongue is Kazakh...but he is so amazing. This is the first song I’d ever heard from Dimash and I’ve been a fan ever since. Thank you for reacting to this performance. Love and light from Hawai’i. 🌺💗

Actually the original singer was not Gregory Lemarchal but Daniel Balavoine in the end of 70th. Gregory did a cover. The original version was from a musical comedy calls Starmania wrote by Michel Berger (composer) and Luc Plamandon (righter). Thank you for your reaction to Dimash he deserves it. If you liked, please, look at his others performances.

I was going to say that also...Gregory was not the original...but, Gregory performed it in the manner of the original... Dimash took it to another level. In fact, this song is soooo good, Dimash now OWNS this song.
@MarkoPetejan5 жыл бұрын
Yes, for me Gregory was better than Daniel. Daniel died too, in a helicopter crash, AFAIK he sang this song only once. I knew nothing about this song, Daniel or Gregory until I heard Dimash. He owns this song, I totally agree, but I do miss Gregory now. Such an angel, so sad.
@eyesnapples61674 жыл бұрын
@NewBeginnings [ThePunchNews] No, Gregory owns this song forever. The lyrics are basically his story, whereas Dimash doesn’t really feel the lyrics as much since he can’t understand them.
@marianosolores56473 жыл бұрын
That's right, but the truth is both Dimash and Gregory covers are largest better than Daniel's original interpretation. Even when the song was writed for him, almost all the covers I heard (by profetional singers, of course) are better than his one. You can whatch it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5y9pneeqrmerqc

Dimash has a PURE voice. No squeaks, no pushing of notes, no missing notes. It isn’t really operatic in this song - just what a strong voice can do. Yes, the story of sweet Gregory is indeed a sad one and his singing was great, especially Je t’aime, which I love. Gregory re-introduced SOS to young people at the time, because the original was sung by Daniel Belavoine in 1986. So, because Gregory had some good top notes, and because he was a sick young man, the lyrics were even more poignant and meaningful and the song became associated with Gregory. But he along with others, could never hit those high notes purely and truthfully, they fatally miss the mark. Dimash is a fan of Gregory’s and when Greg died, Dimash was just 13 and was already performing this song. Nowadays, Dimash sings the song as an homage to Gregory. This performance is the most beautiful rendition of this song that I have ever heard. Dimash has an over 6-octave range and it usually sounds like many people are on stage with him! Thank you for your reaction! It is wonderful to see your discovery of this amazing young man. Try looking at Adagio. These performances were from 2017 in a competition in China. Dimash is from Khazakstan and is now almost 25 years old. And his voice has matured even more. Welcome to the world of Dimash Qudaibergen!

But he is very famous for singing this one in a tv show as a contestant, he was so loved because he was just amazing and never let his disease get the best of himself. As much as I love dimash and his voice, Gregory’s interpretation will always be special and touch something in me - because this song means so much when sing by him, he was dying, he truly was in between that life and death place, he put so much emotions in this song because he truly felt it, every damn words. That was one of the most touching reaction videos of SOS I've seen. It seems like those who have sung this song or are singers are the best to judge Dimash's interpretation. I could tell you noticed the fact that Dimash at that point was making pronunciation mistakes. He sings in so many languages that he's not fluent at and he is improving that aspect. Most importantly, I could tell that just like with the other singers, this experience was bittersweet for you. It was exhilerating, but yet sad whenever you compare your vocals to Dimash's. But, just like you couldn't compare this interpretation to the original by Daniel Balavoine, so do people enjoy different singing as everyone brings with them a different interpretation, a different timber of voice, etc. You are very talented in your own right, and I'm glad I discovered you. As you noticed, Dimash is more than just a man of incredible range. He also seems to have mastered so many singing techniques to have such control over his voice and his performance. Someone on the continuous self-improvement quest would learn so much from Dimash in terms of putting on a show, evoke different emotions, etc. There are a few songs of his that were not so great, but the vast majority were epic, truly epic. To the extent that you will be reacting to more, I suggest Gloria Wu's website where you could see English subtitles and the background of some of the songs, which would make you appreciate the performance all the more. Thank you and have fun!

Thank you for a great reaction to a fellow singer. Dimash has become THE singer for me, ive never heard such an amazing voice - he stuns the senses! Clarity, control, emotion, depth, resonance...😳 Daniel Balavoine was the original, brilliant singer and SOS was written for his unusual voice. Dimash steps it up even further with this interpretation. Check out the Slavic Bazaar version - my fav - which adds a deeper resonance in my view. Then I hope you'll continue thru his musical journey which overcthe last two years has been fascinating. 😍😍😍

Normally I don't do that sort of click bates, but I am very happy I did, because it was true. Never heard anything like his vocals in my life. Since then I have watched many many clips of him, seen many many reaction video's but honestly yours is my favorite, and that is because you are very honest about your feelings, you know what you are talking about and you don't compare Dimash with Gregory, you acknowledge that they are both amazing and have a different approach to the song. Thank you.

There have been hundreds of performers of this song since 1976, but not one has any vocal data to perform it like Dimash did! Maestro Michel Berger, for sure, would have been happy if it was such a performer who would have come to him for an audition - all the notes were effortlessly taken, and how much strength and tenderness in this performance, what actor’s presentation of each line exactly according to the content of the song. "S.O.S." Dimasha, like a scarf with a magical aroma, flying over the square in the "Perfumer" - one wave and everyone is fascinated! The tone is incredible, penetrating the very heart!

From the bottom of my heart I thank you for your reaction. The wonder we feel for Dimash heals our pain. I hope he continues to touch your heart. SOS was written long before Gregory sang the song - it it was composed and sung by Daniel Balavoine (French) who wrote the Rock Opera "Starmania" that caused earth to shake when it was opened in Paris in 1978. I was there and my life changed for ever. Daniel tragically died in 1986 and France declared a national day of mourning for his loss. SOS has changed the world and few males can do it justice. Thanks again from the Dimash fans in Australia.

Hi Dan, thank you for your nice reaction. You should know, that Dimash has vocal -training since his age of 5 y. He has classical training and her mother is also a famous soprano, his father is a song writer and composer. Dimash also composed several songs himself. If you want to watch high (whistle) notes, you could watch Unforgettable Day (Gakku concert), he hits a D 8 for 5 seconds. His lower register one can hear at his sochi performance - Sinful passion, he is rapping during Screaming performance - Idol hits, his Hello by Lionell Richie is in my opinion also awesome, I´m looking forward for your next reaction. He is singing in several languages but don´t know the language, this is the reason for bad pronunciation. During the singer competition 2017 he had to perform every week a new song, which was choose by the judges. He had only 1 week to learn the lyrics. The Late Autum was one of this songs in Mandarin and he was happy, that the Chinese Audience understood and loved his performance. Welcome in the world of Dimash and sorry for my poor Englisch. Greetings form Austria (Europe)

Thank you for reacting to this video... You may be the first reactor (for me) who knew this song and its original singer. I've looked up the original version and it's really sad to know the history of the original singer. Your reaction was really genuine... I guess you understood the song and Dimash's improvization adds up to your overwhelming feeling of listening to the song... Really loved yout reaction.

From a french Gregory fan, thank you for honouring his memory and talent! He actually wasn't the original singer of this song though :) but his interpretation of it has marked french music and minds. And I'm always blowned away by Dimash's abilities! He's so talented

Hi Dan, you could have not chosen better to initially react to. The opening of the Dimash show!. Yes he is the best vocalist ever to step on a stage.Please continue on reacting our Dimash. There are lit of recommendations from the DEARS so any one of them is as best as the other ones. Thank you for reacting. I believe Gregory was the fifth singer who performed the epic SOS. Daniel Bolavoine, a French singer was the original of the song ( 1978) and continued on by different performers since then. Gregory was the last one who popularized before his death until Finish Kudaibergen came along and sang SOS , rearranged the music and made it his own and the song became alive again since Dimash interpreted in a different way.

I subscribed because of your genuine reaction. Dimash can sing bass, baritone, tenor, soprano, alien( being the only male in the world that can sing the Diva Dance successfully live multiple times. He can rap too. Dimash can practically sing nearly anything in practically nearly every genres and in multiple languages. His incredible mastery in interpreting and conveying the very essence of every song he sing sets him apart from the rest. He is diamond of first water in music. Highly rare. Beautiful, angelic and powerful. You will see how talented, capable and powerful and yet emotional his performances can be.....check out his Love of Tired Swans in Kremlin, Mademoiselle Hyde and his duet with highly respected veteran Mongolian musician, Tengri singing Swan Goose on Jiangsu Satellite TV with Mongolian musicians. They performed in Mandarin, Kazakh and Mongolian. All these performances will leave you wanting more.
