This is the start to finish of the production line of the R-Series 2nd Gen MINI at MINI Plant Oxford in the United Kingdom. No less than 1,041,412 of the outgoing MINI have been produced at the high-tech facility, which has built more than 2.4 million MINIs since 2001. 14% of all cars built in the UK last year were MINIs, accounting for 14% of all UK vehicle exports in 2012.
The 2nd Gen R-Series MINIs launched in 2006 and the last one rolled off the line in 2013.

Not to sound biased or anything, but R56 was truly the peak MINI design. Way better looking than the F56

@@Jcwadventures Exactly! Sadly they had so many reliability issues, even when BMW fixed most of them with the LCI update in 2010, their reputation was pretty much ruined

@@Jcwadventures I'm on year 9 and 124,000 miles on a '13 cooper s manual gearbox. Melting corner light sockets. corroding tabs on rear brake light holders. The carboning and subsequent failure of intake valves at 98,000 miles. Wastegate sticks at random. Unforgivable. I still love this car, but my next car will have mazda's straight six twincam in it. The instant they make a 2-door long-nose short-tail car with that engine, sorry, Mini, but I"m gone back to Mazda. It's all I drove 'til the mini. How can BMW, a car maker with almost 100 years of experience mess up this bad? Has anyone explained to the suits in charge that they messed up bad with direct injection and with the bulb hardware? This isn't made by Leyland, but sometimes I feel the ghost of Lucas hanging about.. Thank you for the film, I still love the car and thoroughly enjoy giving her the beans, and have watched other "mini production" films on the R56. This car spends all her time on sport mode. Sleeps in a garage since new. Still gets waxed every 3 months. Still looks and drives new.

Still have my 2007 Mini R56 on the road - central Canada, -40c to +40c conditions.... 142,000kms. Love that car.

In the late 60s I started working at a GM plant making Cadillacs. To see these guys not even breaking a sweat and being so clean. Car manufacturing sure has changed. I love Mini, waiting for my 2 door S to be delivered. Could take months. Guaranteed they are going to want more than the agreed on price.

I had my brand new Pepper White R56 MINI First for 12 years, sold it in April 2022 replaced with F56. I loved that car, funnily enough someone round the corner owns it now, so I can still get to admire it almost every day. 😀

Excellent video, seems to be from quite early on in the R56 production. Had a factory tour recently and thought it was great seeing it all, watched this out of interest to see what had changed since my own yellow 07 R56 was produced there.

Glad you liked the video. Yes, this would have been around the early production of the R56 instead of the facelift R56. I have done the factory tour 8 times and every time there is something new to see. I'm really looking forward to going back this year as they have changed some items on the tour. Going to be interesting seeing the 4th Gen MINI being made next year; there so another excuse for another tour 😆

Tomorrow I’m replacing the timing chain on my r56 n12 2007 with only 87k miles. Chain guides on these are made from the finest BMW chocolate.

175k original chain on N16 engine. No harsh driving till car is up to temp & oil change every 7k. Simple care ensures longevity of the engine.

I think thats a fluid or pressure test given the gauges. Then i guess the red light one is looking for any cracks or something

Lovely cars, but only way to go with those is with 1.6D (HDi/TDCi engine). n12 and n14 are high maintenance.

@JCW Adventures I ordered all the catalog , red roof with sun roof , red mirror cups , and rail racks . 18 " wheel, but I don't like it . Without Harman Kardon , because they told me that I will wait 12 months to receive it. I ordered 7 February, and I receive my car on August. I sold my BMW 328 Mpack, and I ride my new Honda Africa twin .

Must admit my cooper s r56 has the most problematic engine, the n14🤦‍♂️ fix one thing and before you know it something else goes wrong...

It’s a high maintenance engine. Alot of people didn’t give the TLC it needed. I have had my R56 JCW from new and it has needed work but still going strong after 145,000 miles

Crappy N14 Engine in this video you can tell because you can see the sparkplug coils. Got my first a month ago did research for 8 months found a 2012 . first rule I learned from a youtuber is this from my data sheet. Don’t buy a 2008-2011, they’re the reason ppl think MINI are unreliable. Make Sure it has an N18 look it up and learn the differences . NO N14. They swallow timing chain guides and many other issues. Not an If but a When.
