You should always choose live performances with Linda. She is a treasure. The best of the best. Deep and varied catalogue. This was considered Country/Rock. 🌸💐✌️

Great to see you discovering Linda Ronstadt. You’ll definitely want to continue with one of the great vocalists. You’ll definitely need to cover her signature song, Blue Bayou, from the same album to get you started, and plenty more in varying genres. And you’ll find her live performances are often even better than the studio versions.

Her live version of Desperado recorded in Atlanta and also Down So Low live in Germany are a must. She also has recorded Mexican music that is unbelievable, and opera also just an amazing voice she could do it all.

You were right. It's called country rock and in the 70's she was the queen. She excels in many genres: rock, pop, country, big band, and Mexican songs (she sings in Spanish. Songs: Long Long Time, You're No Good, Blue Bayou, La Charreada

Linda was the top woman singer in the 70's. This song was in what was known as country rock. Listen to her version of "When will I Be Loved."

First time I heard this song I was a fan for years already. This was released in 1977 so probably first heard it on FM radio, was married and fixing up my first house, a 2-family in Middlesex, NJ. Linda Ronstadt is still with us but suffering from Parkinson's disease. Her incredible vocal abilities and her love of music resulted in so much greatness for us to enjoy, including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin music (mariachi). As was the case with most young heterosexual men back in the day I was totally in love with Linda.

You know what... I remember her making a guest spot on The Simpsons and singing Spanish! Your mention of "mariachi" just reminded me! Lol I sooo appreciate the info on her career and do you have any suggestions from her catalog I should be looking out for?

Love seeing people discover Linda Ronstadt now! Subbed to see more of your reactions! She was one of my dad’s favorite singers and I don’t recall a time when I wasn’t hearing her beautiful, powerful voice. My parents even had recording a of me singing “White Rhythm and Blues” when I was maybe 4(?) 😂 I think her catalogue would be fun for you to dive into, as a quick look at your videos suggests you appreciate many different types of music. She has sung ‘70’s rock to pop ballads, latin music to light opera, and more. Some of my favorite songs by her are “Prisoner in Disguise”, “You’re No Good”, “Desperado”, “Somewhere Out There”… Sadly, she does not perform anymore due to a degenerative disease she has.

This genre is country rock. The genre was developed in the LA music scene of the late 60s and early 70s. It's rock songs played with country instruments. If there had been a group photo of the musicians that developed the genre Linda would have been front center. Linda has an amazing and diverse catalog. You'll find yourself in a rabbit hole of immense proportion. Bonnie Raitt says Linda in the 70s and 80s is like Beyonce is now. She's the first queen of rock, the first female singer to sell out stadiums and arenas, the first female to have 3 consecutive platinum albums and she didn't stop till she accumulated 8 in a row. Then what does she do? She goes to Broadway to do Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance and earned a Tony nomination.

She does everything from Jazz to Light Opra. She is incredibly talented. I suggest "Long Long Time" and "Desperado". If you want to do some Spanish (She has the top selling foreign language album in US History). I would do the Live with Mariachi Vargas versions of "Ciggaro" and "La Charreada". Both will blow your mind. Her breath control is incredible.
