Love the amazing detail you and your team puts in these reviews. If possible, can you do a scientific review on the new Amazfit Band 7 ? Being in the US, I can't reliably use the Huawei Band 7, which has the most accurate heart rate monitor (per your review) in the smart band category for android bands. I was hoping the new band has more accurate heart rate monitoring than the older one........

I only bought one because it was the most inexpensive independently-reviewed smart watch among very $ophisticated high-end gear and I needed a watch after my analog one broke years ago. I honestly just it for the time and with doing so, I get close to three weeks of battery! A relative’s Apple Watch has 1 day in comparison!

A thing I noticed with Huami devices (mi band and t-rex pro) is that the devices count steps while I'm doing actions like grinding cheese for pasta or having a drum session. Some rhytmic activities with arms are considered as a walk. Did you noticed this behaviour?

Very interesting, is there a method you use to keep the reading quality uniform? Specific place you put the tracker and specific tightness. Also you could compare quality of readings with the tracker tighter or looser to see how it affects quality

My question too. I got the Polar H10 and have been comparing the Amazfit Band 5 with it. depending on how tight the band is and its position, AND the same for the Polar H10 position on the chest, I can get quite different answers where either you are off by a factor of 2, or they are very close to each other. After downloading the data, I smoothed the data so I am recording a moving median (or average) of the observation over every 30 sec or 1 min interval - this is to eliminate spurious bumps up and down that really do not say anything significant about your fitness or exercise level. Once you do this, and the band is tight near the wrist bone and the OH10 is firmly on the center of the chest at the level of nipples, I see little difference if any in the two devices for jogging, walking, yoga or weightlifting. Of course the raw data has some systematic differences in the 2 devices as the "quantified scientist" shows.

I had 2 Amazfit watches. The heartrate us not usually accurate after 5 minutes. I find that both watches use the gyroscope to recompensate for lost heart beats. Mainly the more you shake your watch the heart goes up, even if you were stationary.

I tested this Amazfit Band 5 for a few weeks now. I like it a lot. In many cases, I feel it is even better than Fitbit Charge 5. The only thing I don't like is the smallest heart rate test interval is 1 minute. Thus, I cannot see the updated heart rate in time. The Fitbit Charge 5 appears update every a few seconds. Do you know are there any other smart bands have such a high update rate besides the Fitbit?

@@ady2416 I certainly think so. I just want they can improve the updating of heart rate display more often. Another comment is that when the heart rate is not detected, the display should not show any value. The display should be updated once heart rate is detected to the latest value.

Just bought mine. From what I have seen it’s great. Which is very strange for the price. It’s especially great for me because I cannot see myself replacing real watches with smart watches. I have a watch my dad gave me that I can’t wait to give my son when he graduates. Things like that make me not want a smart watch. For my needs, this is a good tracker

Actually, I've been wearing Amazfit band 5 on my left hand and Fitbit Inspire 3 on my right one for many months. My APAP provides independent reference for time spent sleeping, apneic events etc. Besides more convenient software that also does not spy on you by DEMANDING location for synching with a smartphone (which takes forever and often fails), Amazfit appears to beat Inspire 3 in accuracy every night. I can't trust a device that reports same time spent in bed but periods of more than an hour awake every night while in fact I'm not (I hold a PhD in biology and had polysomnogram done multiple times, so I know, for one, that it's impossible for me to have sleep apnea events recorded by APAP while I'm supposedly awake, per Fitbit). In my experience Amazfit is also more convenient in fit, screen brightness and interface. While not obviously defective, my Fitbit is far from inspiring, so today I'm ordering another Band 5 as a cheap & good enough spare tracker to keep.
