@@keeganharvey6007 I cannot hate Flintoff, it is impossible, he is my favourite international player of all time. My favourite All rounder and definitely my favourite Englishman. He was an absolute star of the game and massive personality, plus he had a killer voice and personality haha. I am an Aussie fan, but even after Edgebaston 2005, I could never hate him. I watched every amazing minute of this game. This test epitomizes what is so brilliant about TEST cricket over 5 days. Attack, defense, timing, bowling, field placement, catching, batting..scoring! A test can change on the turn of a moment! Some people just don't realise that....they love the shorter game. I love it all.... but prefer tests...then ODI...and then 20/20

I agree Paul. I remember this match well. I was 26 and running a workshop, so I made sure all of the radios were on ABC, then I'd rush home to catch the last session on TV. My girlfriend at the time had no interest in cricket, but she was up to visit on day five. We got home, and I made it clear that we were watching a history making match. My best memory from all of it, is that she now loves cricket and watches it because of the Tests. It's a final day I won't forget, and have watched the DVD many time since. Brilliant cricketers, and role models for us all.

Absolutely true mate , test is 100% competition . odi and t20 cricket is more about exhibition to attract the people's In batsman hitting sixes only thing pleasing is sound of bat , not much pleasing to eyes Test cricket is watchful all the way through , even today's test cricket as well . No difference still every run , every wicket , every catch is worthy in tests

@SilentHotdog28 2 жыл бұрын
@@Adam-oy4ix I don't know where you get Healy is better than Adam lol, Adam played less tests and achieved more with his keeping, even if you look at their other match types (ODI, FC, LA) Adam outperformed Healy in dismissals (both in stumpings and catches) The only reason why people say Healy is better than Gilly is because Healy was there first and got preferential treatment for being the veteran. But Gilly is the better Gloveman. (The only people who you could argue for being better are maybe Mark Boucher and Andy Flower). But I'd have Gilly in my side 10 times out of 10 over any keeper in history.

@ket_wav1013
@ket_wav1013 3 жыл бұрын
@@dazaspc Yeah nah sorry mate gotta hard disagree on that. Taylor was a bit like Ian Chappell or Stephen Fleming, wasn't the best bat in the team but brilliant tacticians, and respected by everyone in the team and the public. Warne, while also being a great tactician, has always been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, and captaincy definitely would not have changed that imo, it's just who he is.
@Shivian124
@Shivian124 3 жыл бұрын
@@dazaspc No it was his off field indiscretions. Nothing to do with being a drone or being unopinionated. He would certainly have been a great leader for Australian cricket *on the field*. But off the field it's like picking a league player who was into partying hard and a hit with the women. To this day, Tim Paine was held under that same pressured expectation. Warner as well altho his ball tampering is a big black mark too.
@Shivian124
@Shivian124 3 жыл бұрын
@@dazaspc Are you kidding? Did you see the early day squads Taylor had? Gavin Robertson, Matthews, Paul Wilson, Peter Macintyre, Tim May, Jo Angel... Taylor developed the players that Steve Waugh used to dominate the world. He gave Australian cricket the boost from Border's hard nosed strength to out and out matchwinners. Taylor's captaincy is what nurtured Shane Warne into who he is today. Taylor's batting was overlooked when out of form for patches specifically because his captaincy elevated the side so much it was a huge advantage to having him running the team on the field.

Adelaide always has witnessed some unbelievable spirit from various teams. Australia in 2006 were behind the game, but still they, especially Warne, had that belief of winning that Test match, and they won. In 2014 too, India weren't going good in the first 3 days. Still they, especially Kohli, believed they could chase 365 on Day 5 and win it for India. Unbelievable spirit!! But unfortunately, they lost.

How that England side lost 0-5 is beyond me, it was stacked all through the order. They made Mammoth totals, bowled really well and fielded really well. We might actually have a contest on our hands if that England side was playing instead of the current England side.

At the end of the last day, due to the finish of the test match, he was elevated to the Penthouse! It would be an interesting exercise to go back through the Adelaide records, and find out just how many test matches finished 1) On the last day 2) In the last session 3) In the last hour, and 4) What the win / loss /draw record of Australia is at Adelaide Oval against all teams.

On the morning on day 5, Stuart clark bowled like the first 10 or 12 overs from 1 end while warnie bowled at the other end, stuart clark beet the bat like 10 times and went for about 10 runs off his overs, gave England absolutely nothing and warnie and the others cashed in, very important part of that that victory

It's worth mentioning that the first innings of this match featured Warne's worst single innings bowling figures of his entire career (1/167). He managed to turn it into (arguably) the greatest triumph, both for the team and for himself personally.

IMHO Stuart Clark was our best bowler that day. He was unplayable, which caused the English to play rash shots against Warne.
