There’s a reason why she always performs barefeet. When she was a little girl, she walked with her grandma on the streets and saw a a girl her age weighing passersby for a living, Angelina approached her and engaged in a conversation about their dreams and aspirations, she took off her shoes and gave it to her. Since then she always performed barefeet and vowed to always perform barefeet until all children in the world have shoes to wear. Thats the short version. I have been listening Angelina Jordan for about two years, now it has become a ritual to listen to her voice every single day from some of the song recorded on my iPad. Her voice is so soothing it’s beyond belief and have observed the steady growth in right direction. My wish is she remains humble and entertains the world as she grows I wish her best of health and happy life ahead.

As someone that followed Angelina in the years before this performance, I can't even put into words how special it was to witness that moment in her career. She had said since she was 3 years old that she would sing for Simon some day. When word got out in Oct 2019, that she would be on AGT in January, there were many fans speculating what song she might sing, but it was a closely guarded secret. The anticipation was high for months, and then on that night in January 2020, Angelina stepped out on that stage in front of Simon and did...that! There were many fans with teary eyes that night. BTW: It's Angelina's "Angels" also BTW... I know I commented this in the bio on the last video, but since you mentioned her bare feet, I will share it again for those that missed it.... *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.

One thing about Angelina is she is not really like anyone else she is just AJ a legend in the making. This arrangement was so good Queen gave her permission to record it under her own label. Next for you should be "Suspicious Minds" when she is 16 to see that she's not finished with her climb to greatness yet.

You see a 13 year old coming on stage, barefoot (see the story below), wearing the suit she made herself with a print from her grandmothers art and she starts singing the arrangement she made herself. As soon as she starts singing she captivates the jury and audience and doesn’t let them go until she is ready with them leading to immense release and wave of emotion at the end from the audience. She has an incredible talent of story telling and conveying emotions: she makes me hear and feel the story. Apart from an inspiring person, she is also a very kind, modest and caring person. She goes barefoot because at the age of 6 she gave away her shoes to a poor street girl. Ever since she performed barefoot in remembrance of that girl and and to raise awareness for poor children. She participated in numerous charities to raise money for good causes.

Ronnie Van Zant (R.I.P.) sang barefoot and never wrote any lyrics down on paper. I am just saying that greatness comes from a higher place. We are not supposed to understand it but to enjoy it. Hi Rosalie, here is the shorter version of why she sings barefoot: Based on the true story of when she was six years old, Angelina met a homeless, shoeless girl while traveling in the Middle East who was weighing people on a bathroom scale to make a living. After they talked for a long time, she gave the girl her shoes and vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world's children had them. Since that time, Angelina has always performed barefoot in public. Angelina, since 8 years old has helped raise over 22 million for charitable causes as well, she IS the real deal as a person, humble, sweet, caring, classy and quite eloquent, not just the generational talent on display. When she was 7 and ready to start off her life, the girl at Norway's Got Talent asked if she was ready. She said yes, almost like , yeah get out of my way my future calls. She was never nervous. She was 7 and had learned entire songs, several of them. They were old-time jazz songs and standards. It is not congruous with people of today,. They do not know those songs and would not like them if they heard them.

She is in the process of having the world recognize her as a SUPERSTAR. Outfit for AGT: AJ's grandmother, Mery Zamani, is a famous artist and she did the artwork for this outfit. Mery Zamani was a child prodigy and has been a major force in AJ's upbringing. There is no way you can experience Angelina Jordan without becoming very emotional. This being moves mountains.

The girl was not begging. She was offering to weigh people in exchange for some coins. If you use the word begging, it sets up a different image. The girl made a real impression on Angelina, and we should give her the same respect Angelina has. A 7 yo girl with younger siblings to care for after the death of both parents, who has a dream of someday being a doctor, but maybe now won't get to be one because of losing her parents, who is weighing people (offering a service commodity) in exchange for survival money is what impressed Angelina Jordan. Not a mere beggar. Let us not dismiss this girl to whom Angelina gave her beloved boots and who Angelina sees in her heart daily, according to TV interviews.

I think the story behind her bare feet is as follows. Angelina was 6 years old and saw another child walking outside and she was barefoot. Her feet were cut and calloused. Angelina gave her own shoes to the little girl and promised she would always perform bare footed to bring attention to the many children who have no shoes.

Angelina has profound and deep reason for performing barefoot. She was with her family in a city in the Middle East A girl about her age was on the street weighing people for money She struck up a coversation with the girl and asked her what her dream was--she said she wanted to be a doctor. She asked Angelina's dream and she replied she wanted to be a singing star. They agreed to pray for each other's success Angelina noticed she had no shoes and her feet had sores. She took off her shoes and gave them to the girl who was very grateful Angelina vowed at a very young age to sing barefoot until all children in the world have shoes to protect their feet. She even wrote and published a book about that story illustrated by her grandmother (available on her website). She is the youngest published author in Norway. Just thought you should know. I would suggest next her newest video, "Suspicious Minds." Two of her originals also, "Million Miles" about her grandfather's death, and "What is Life," --find the one with the jazz piano and guitar accompaniment.

Most artist, when you've heard a few songs, you can pretty much imagine what the next song will sound like. I know you like Dimash and Diana and rightfully so, but they are included in that observation. Angelina, will throw you a curve ball then follow it up with a change up. Sorry about the baseball analogies but, you get the drift. From a A Song for A, How great Thou Art to I Will Survive and a whole lot in between, she can and does do it all. If you really want to shed some tears, think about lost love ones, then listen to her original Million Miles. No over the top vocal acrobatics. Just powerful heartfelt lyrics performed flawlessly.

Angelina's renditions sound amazingly impactful for this reason: she sings the lyrics in the way they beg to sung, with EMOTION....her renditions are as unique as her voice. I'd like to ask you to name me a "humble" artist who at 6yrs old showed COMPASSION and took the shoes off her feet to give another child... The action was heartfelt, and if she has that in her soul, it is also expressed in her music..from her heart to ours... as you journey more into her music, you'll realize she's truly ONE OF A KIND. Not a singer but an ARTIST, with a palette of vocal techniques, that she uses freely and boldly... Angelina isn't reliant on "belting" to be impressive, if you almost cried... It wasn't due to lung capacity, belting, or dramatics, it's because she reaches into your heart, tugs at your emotions, MOVING you in ways that surprise you, but you'll learn to expect. After watching your great reaction for the 2nd time, your comment that Angelina's performance made you think of the late, great Amy Winehouse also resonated with me. Angelina is a big fan of Amy's music. In fact she did an amazing cover of Back To Black when she was just 10 with KORK (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra). However - since her Mom thought some of the lyrics were not appropriate for a 10 year old girl, Angelina was able to rewrite those lyrics to be more age appropriate. And what's truly amazing, is that she was able to do so while still maintaining the melody & flow of Amy's original. And - she sounds so much like Amy - that when I listen with my eyes closed I actually see Amy singing. Anyway - always look forward to your Angelina reactions, Thank you. In fact, she says that when she gave her beloved green boots to the Iranian street girl (which is why she performs barefoot, to remind us of children in need) she wrote in her 6 year old diary that it was like a door opened in her heart and she climbed a stairway to heaven. She wrote a book about it and became the youngest published author in Norway. (She probably spoke to the girl in Farsi too--her grandmother/mentor is a prominent Iranian painter.)

She was 13 at this performance. Her own original arrangement. I never tire of this exquisite rendition. The way she uses her voice in the last section (throughout, really) cutting a certain sound short, extending another, the way she uses her voice to convey the despair in that song-- such a common denominator of the human experience, that despair, that "nothing really matters any more" moment we all get to at some point or points in our lives-- is just exquisite in my opinion. We are carried through that common human moment to a place of redemption. Words are difficult to describe such a journey carried by someone's vocals. Technique enables her to do it, but what goes on is so much more than technique. Yes, I agree with you about the humility and kindness. Have you heard yet the story of why she has performed barefoot since age 6? You can call us "Angelina's Angels." 💜

The suit she is wearing, is literally the story of her life. Painted by maternal grandma Mery Zamany, copied onto wearable cloth, designed by Mery and AJ and sewed by AJ, she is a masterful seamstess.
