He's good at including minor mess-ups; it's part of his charm. He owns like five different mixers and every once and a while he'll forget how they work and just turn it on high and dry ingredients will go flying all over his beautiful countertop. He just laughs it off and keeps going. Mistakes are part of baking, cooking and life; John reminds us not to sweat them.

In 28 years i never actually saw my self in the kitchen convincing myself to bake 😂 But here I am binging on your videos to learn because I cant afford baking school. Just want to tell you that I am very thankful that you make all your videos truthful and showing that it doesnt need to always be perfect and accurate and what each ingredients do if they are used this way and that way. I would never learn that brown sugar makes pastries puffy and white sugar, thin. Thats just one of the things I have learned from you. YOU SHOULD START A BAKING SCHOOL!!

I know this video is over a year old but it's such a great video in terms of quickly showing different tools and techniques to make beautiful individual desserts. You can see his art background at work with the color schemes and his skill as a baker with the different creations. He's the ideal combination of scientist and artist, and a natural teacher who makes us all feel like we can be successful making his recipes. Can't wait for his cookbook and eventual television show or regular featured guest slot on someone's show. From a food perspective I predict he'll be bigger than Chrissy Teigen.
