Often the music you play brings tears to my eyes. There's is something about it that takes me to a different place. Bagpipes tear at my heart strings, I just turn into a mess. Hey is there anyway you could make a wax seal out of a piece of your agate? I think it has to be a task that needs doing! Your finds today we're incredible! Don't be in a hurry to polish and cut them, sometimes the rough stone has more charm. Love your work! I get a kick out of Alex! The more you find the more excited you get! It is like shaking a bottle of soda as you walk, you can feel it getting closer and closer to exploding!! 🤯😂 Keep bringing this excitement to your show! Always such a pleasure!!

Aw that's so lovely, we do enjoy picking the music for our videos! I (Alex) collect antique wax seals, I would LOVE to make my own but we will need some more advanced tools for the job that what we currently have. Hopeful it is something I can do in the future though 😊

@@NorthernMudlarks I think you could use diamond bits and cutoff wheels on your on your Dremel/rotary tool. Make the first, larger cuts with the cutoff wheel, then use various ball and flame bits to deepen and smooth/round the edges. You could always try on softer stone, like calcite, first.

Little rockhounding tip. Bring a hammer to knock a little chip off the larger rocks you are unsure about. As you said, they can look like just any other rock, until you take a chip off and expose the insides 😊
@Bazingaringa124 жыл бұрын
I was so wishing this one was a live show after I got into it because I was just naming off the types and formations of the agates but you can't hear me from here lol! One bit I wanted to make sure to share is that the purple quartz/purple chalcedony IS amethyst. The different gems are all just silica with different inclusions that give it the different colors and different names. Yellow is citrine and the sort of brownish/grey is smoky quartz and then there is rose quartz and the list goes on! The amethyst usually gets its color from iron impurities so that is a clue when looking for a good location to find more! I read there is a special quartz in Scotland called Cairngorm and found in the mountains there. Could that be another cool treasure for you ladies to hunt?! 😊

From the 3,500 miles that I watch both narrowboaters and mudlarkers from Philadlephia, we watchers become very attached to all of you and your pets so when you sadly lose one, we too grieve. So, your events today were uplifting after a morning of sadness. Best to you both, Jane, Philadelphia

My Husband and I have been watching your videos since the beginning! We love your music and videography Alex. Gail, you are quite the Artist as well. What a gift your videos are to all of us that are spending lots of time at home. Some of these rocks look like they may have been knapped by Natives. Our Native Americans here in my area of the Midwest used practical rocks for creating arrowheads, but when there were more beautiful stones available that could be knapped they used those as well. That nibbled look on the edges is what caught my attention. Could be natural though. Either way I am sure you will create something lovely from them.

Alex when you dropped that 2nd rock you picked up up - the big green one - I was like "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!"😱🤣🤣🤣 If you noticed most of the rocks you picked up that showed color had that same porous (either like the the the green one or the lighter creamy colored ones) texture to them. The reason I freaked out is I have a a small slab of Amethyst crystals that are dark purple on top, clear as you move down, & then that green porous stone under the crystals. I was wondering if some of the rocks you picked up might have different colored stones inside if cut or broke open.

We never left the beach without a bucket or can full of stones. Watching you guys brought back such wonderful memories for me! That stone you found Gail with the melted look on the inside looks like a Thunder Egg or possibly a Geode. Love seeing your video's, keep up the amazing work!

Wow what a hoard. Such a wonderfully serene rock hounding to watch on a lazy Sunday eve. Loved the eclamation, 'The bands, the bands!' like the hunchback of Notre Dam, "The bells, the bells!" I suppose treasure hunting always necessitates a stoop too ha ha 😆 Like miniature works of art. So lovely to see them being found as they fall than being dug out of the ground. Lovely change from larking. Stunning photos at the end - just wow! Love the translutent blue, glows so enchantingly.

You two are really something. You really are! You consistently put out beautiful, thoughtful, well-produced videos (even when it was a crushing nightmare w/ your old laptop). Every week I get to see what's going on over your way, and you never fail to capture my attention! I too am an 'equal opportunity' hunter- and have been since I was a girl. Bottles/dump-diving, rocks/minerals, Native American Indian artifacts, and now mud-larking up here on my island. I've always, always loved to play in the dirt/mud/water, and once I realized I could find 'party favors' to pocket and take home to marvel at- I was hooked. If I ever advance from my Luddite flip-phone existence, I'll be sure to let you know. I'd love to share my treasure and stories! Be well, stay safe and keep you eye out for shiny things!! 😉 Eliza

Good Lord! My father worked for a provincial power company, and in the early '80's they put the lines under ground. Racks & racks of the crossbars were laying everywhere along roads, ditchers, & dumps. My sister-in-law and I would take our kids and go picking them off the racks. We found glass insulators of every color imaginable, from clear to dark blue. Reds, links, yellows, greens, different shades of each but we found only one that was the color oh an amethyst. Most went into the garden, but the ones that were different came in the house. That was over 35 years ago & 1500 mi.(1850+km) away! Loved to see you rock hounding. I've been a rock hound for years. Took geology in university. You would love BC's Blue picture stone. Check out Dan Hurd Prospecting for pictures.🇨🇦💕
