Hello all! There has been some concern and misinformation on this video down here in the comments about us cutting our finds on our new tile saw at the end of the video. The type of blade on our saw is called a continuous blade, it is a blunt, dimond infused blade that poses minimal harm to our fingers and will NOT chop them off as some of you seem to think. In fact, before we began using our mashine we ourselves watched videos of others cutting agates, some guys we watched touched the running blade with their bare finger to prove it will not cut skin to any extent (It is more likely to graze skin than cut). A blade for cutting wood however (sharpened with teeth) would be EXTREMELY dangerous and would pose an extreme risk. We both wore safety goggles and we were both on hand to turn the machine off for each other if needed. We decided to turn the machine around in order to pull the stone towards us rather than pushing it away so spray and debris from the bade would be directed away from us for our safety. As for gloves, we have been told they should NEVER be worn around rotating machinery. If (God forbid) they were caught on the blade and pulled into it the outcome could be devastating. We are both not strangers to power tools and we own a variety of different saws. We are both very capable women and we would not have decided to cut our finds if we had thought the risk was to our safety was too great. Thank you so much for watching and for all you kind comments and concerns! Gail & Alex xx

Although you are clearly capable, sensible women who are familiar and very skilled with small-scale machinery from your jewellery-making, etc, I guess it shows how much your subscribers love & care about you to comment! Thanks for your reassurance and information about the differences between cutting machinery. It's always so calming and interesting watching your adventures, and so beautiful to see the lovely relationship you two have. And thanks so much for taking the covid-safety guidelines seriously!! Blessings from Down Under ❤ 🐨

Thank you for the reassurance,..You do look pro at it even on first attempt, especially Gaiil..& like someone else explained in the comments below it is not like a sharp wood cutting saw..Do take care of the spraying debris through..This was just a first time , am sure we will see yu both do some awesome cutting & slabbing , tumbling to final polished product VERY SOON..Some awesome pieces in there too ...Even the shwoos seem to approve..Good luck !👍..Congrats on fulfilling your wish Alex..👏👏👏🖐️

Their videos are very peaceful and lovely. The fresh and healthy river(all the little fish!), the beautiful sunshine, and all that quartz and agate, made me feel all warm and nostalgic. My late father and I used to go looking for agate, other semi precious stones, arrowheads, bottles, and other interesting things, when I was a wee lass. Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, are good searching places for finding "treasure". We went other places, but I only remember the ones close to home.

I'm a lapidary and rockhound. You've got some beautiful red moss agates and black plume agates, as well as the gorgeous banded pieces. You do need to push the stones through the saw instead of pulling them. A piece of bicycle fender over the saw blade will help keep you dryer. Also wear an apron to help keep your clothes clean. 37:23 The hues of the mixed yellow, red, orange and purple within the plumes of the moss agate/jaspagate are spectacular! some excellent finds! Haha, great to see full pockets and variety of what can be found there! really loved the close up photos. PS try not to breath in the saw mist. A scarf or cloth will help alot if there are not proper p2 rated facemasks available.and nitrill gloves are great to wear to avoid mineral staining of your skin or absortion of hazardous chemicals/elements that may be found in them.I am certain that material would also display amazing depth if cut/polished into a cabochon!

Hi, love your videos. Glad you are social distancing. I used to be a rock hound. Agates, igneous rock, are mostly formed in volcanic rock. It is like a geode that forms inside holes in lava. After the gasses escape, sediments form the geode, that’s why most agates have stripes or layers that form. They sure are beautiful.
