I wouldn't call the 2005 film a remake per se, just a direct adaptation of the novel. The 1971 film told a completely different story from the novel, which is why Roald Dahl was so dissatisfied with it.

@@D.p663 here are some big differences that set apart the 1971 film adaptation from Roald Dahl's novel, as well as Tim Burton's movie: 1. Charlie's father is not alive. 2. Charlie's other three grandparents are mere background characters who have nothing to do with the story. 3. The fake ticket was found by a man in Paraguay. 4. We never see or hear from the other children again after they disappear.

@lovisawarg2420
@lovisawarg2420 5 жыл бұрын
The remake by Tim Burton is more true to the book though. Roald Dahl didn't like the 1971 version. It was too unlike the book. When Tim Burton decided to do a remake 2005, he had Roalds wife Felicity Ann Dahl as the executive producer. She was Roalds wife from 1983-1990 when he died. Roald had talked to Felicity about the book and his disappointment regarding the film from 1971. So she knew where he wanted to go with it. If you look in to the details of the films, you'll see that the remake is more true to the book. But I like both films. They're good in their own way😊

I much liked the Jonny deep version more because it follows the book more by making it dark and other stuff like the boat, the tunnel, and the squirrels were based off the book instead of everything else. I liked how it showed wonkas backstory and even before Charlie goes to the chocolate factory it's all you know gray and not much color like what his life was like being poor. Then when he enters the factory and the chocolate room it's all color. (I know that it's a reference to the wizard of oz)

As a child it was the remake for me, I loved Willy Wonka so much, and still do, but I think some of the music in the new one, AKA the veruca salt song, was perfection in the new one. Apparently Dahl didn’t like how different the film was from his book, and also he didn’t like Gene Wilder. He wanted Spike Milligan to play Wonka. Apparently Dahl hated this movie so much he refused to ever watch it. He died having never seen the movie in its entirety. Evidently Roald Dahl had a reputation for being a rude jerk to everyone. He was a good writer though.
