Those are Humboldt squid not giant squid

They could be Humboldt squid but I think they are Diamond squid. They are very similar. Like you said, they are definitely not Giant squid. Those are much easier to tell apart.

Those guys probably rarely get to go home. These fishing boats are met at sea by bunker ships that resupplies them with food, fuel, and bait. It also takes the catch back to port. The only person who gets to leave is the captain and a couple of the crew members. The rest of them are often not allowed to leave and are not paid. This is a huge issue with these vessels and the gov that is sending them out to plunder the ocean's dwindling resources.

@@bigopalcup 😄😄😄 Yeah I forget to reply to this comment after I checked with my friend. I did reply on another comment that these squid do appear to be Humboldt/Jumbo flying squid. I had a dyslexic moment and said they were Diamond squid but that's because I was watching another video just before this one when they were catching Diamond squid. That was a very rookie mistake, because the two squid are easy to tell apart. The fin on the Diamond squid runs the whole length of the squid's mantle. You probably know that while you can use Google it's not always easy when trying to identify one species from another when they look very similar. The task can be made more difficult when trying to identify something from a picture or video.
