It seems to me that customizing each bulkhead individually is actually a great way to introduce error and wobble in the planking. For example, in luthiery, frets on a guitar are brought into the same plane using a leveling beam to ensure a straight, even trajectory. If one (or more) frets are out of level, they are brought down in relation to each surrounding fret. They are not leveled one at a time, because this kind of individualized editing is imprecise. Granted, this example involves leveling multiple perpendicular elements on a straight line, not a compound radius like the bulkhead, but the theory and execution can be the same, especially because the radii are convex, so an exact radius match isn't necessary. It could be done with a straight sanding beam or emory board running perpendicular. Sorry for the crazy unsolicited rant; I come from a woodworking background, so I'm always eyeing production precesses like a psycho.

Once you have calculated the corrected plank width at each bulkhead and shaped and tapered your plank all planks will be the same. Make up one plank and use it as a template for the rest. That will save you a lot of time. Soak the plank and clamp it in position on the hull to dry and set, you will get all necessary bends and twists that way. Get the planking right and use good timber and you won't need a second planking. You're then well on the way to professional building.

At last a ship model with lots of bulkheads. Scant instructions is probably the major reason why some people give up. This happened back in the 60s and some companies still trade this way which is inexcusable with today's technologies, it's just laziness.
