Oh man! I love this song so much. It came out in 1986 and I was 16. I was at a party and there was this guy there who looked and dressed EXACTLY like Joey Tempest. My gosh he was SO handsome. He came up to me and we started talking the rest of that night. We crashed there and woke up laying next to each other on the couch. It was so amazing.

Sweden's contribution to glam/hair metal. Though most know Europe for "The Final Countdown", THIS was actually their highest charting hit. If you go further down this road, you might also check out "Rock the Night" and "Superstitious" (no, NOT a cover of the Stevie Wonder song). The lead singer's name is Joey Tempest (Real name: Rolf Magnus Joakim Larsson, which IMHO is even cooler).

@@ckobo84 I used to follow the charts religiously back then. Since this was well before the era of downloads or live-streaming, chart position was based on a combination of radio airplay and singles sales, as reported by hundreds of radio stations and music sales outlets nationwide. Europe today consists of the classic 1984-86 lineup that played on 1986's "The final countdown" album that this song, "Carrie", is from. In this video, lead guitarrist, John Norum, had just been replaced by Kee Marcello; who isn't in the band now as Norum has returned. But Joey has been the singer of the band all along, and remains so today.

Lead guitarist John Norum came out with a new solo album just this week. The first single is “Sail On” that’s one you should check out for sure. These guys are still rocking out with John Norum returning on lead guitar, Ian Haugland on drums, Mic Michaeli on keyboards and John Leven on bass. Tons of great songs. Yes, 2nd this. Norum is a beast. He has some solo material and also a member of Don Dokken’s band initially. I did like Kee Marcello’s playing as well, who replaced John in Europe. I just didn’t like the songs as well overall, but Kee was a very fluid lead player. Norum had that aggressive attack which is what made him a great choice for Don Dokken, knowing he was going to be compared to George Lynch.

My recommendation is their third most successful single "Rock The Night" (1986).. The song was released in two different versions, in 1985 as a single from the soundtrack to the Swedish film and in 1986 as the second international single from the album The Final Countdown. The original 1985 release has a rawer metallic hard rock sound than the more polished 1986 from The Final Countdown. The second version reached the top 10 in the charts. Other big hits are "Superstitious" and "Cherokee".

They are still going, and in the recent years turned into a really convincing Hard Rock band, with epic, melodic, but also very heavy songs! (A bit Led Zeppelin / Deep Purple 'ish - I guess that's the kind of music they grew up with and always wanted to play) For their older, harder songs e.g.: Last Look at Eden War of Kings The Beast But you have still some of their classics waiting, like Rock the Night Superstitious Ready or not

Europe have some amazing tracks! This being just one! Other faves Rock the Night, The Final Countdown and my favourite of theirs More Than Meets the Eye. A hard rocker and the guitar solo on that is incredible!! Jay you would love that one!

Cherokee is the next song yall should do. As a girl in growing up in the late 80's , we love power ballads. We lived for them from our favorite hairbands. Power ballads are amazing amd you get fantastic guitar solos in them
