Definitely agree. Thank you God is great, so is Confessions!
@kib67935 ай бұрын
Just beware that there are two different orchestral versions out there, and one of them unfortunately not so good because it has part of the initial story/setup cut off so that you don't get the references in the song. The best version is the one at the Royal Albert Hall with The Heritage Orchestra, not only because the setup wasn't ruined, but also because it's a much better performance. It can be identified by having the most views (8.6M). I think all the different versions of Confessions are great, although Tim had to censor out the ending of his own upload of the song due to a copyright issue. But there's another version out there with the full song, and again is identifiable by having the most views.

Saw him live and when he spelled it out you could feel half the audience breathe in.... it was freakin' awesome. When he finally sang 'Ginger' the relief was palpable. This song is such a troll... and the man is a genius : ))) Oh and he hung around at the end of the show until literally EVERYONE that wanted to meet him, had. He was clearly very tired, but he just didn't want anyone to be disappointed .... he's a genuinely lovely guy.

I mean Tim was one of Bo's biggest inspirations when he was starting out, so no Tim isn't like Bo, Bo modeled himself on Tim and with good reason. He's not just a genius at comedy, he has composed music for the stage play of Matilda and he starred in Jesus Christ Superstar. He's also pretty impressive when it comes to his ability to talk about philosophy as it pertains to religion. His songs are funny and offensive to some people but the premises he proposes, the questions he asks, are pretty deeply considered. "ginger nuts" is a double entendre. It is a type of popular biscuit. He is also ginger so he has ginger pubes which make his nuts ginger. One of his best songs and one of his more serious songs is "not perfect", well worth reacting to.

I love watching black guys react to this song. That being said, the other day, I met a very white red-headed woman, wearing a Tupac T-shirt. I made her watch this video before I could leave. A homophone is two completely different words that sound alike. In this case they are 'red' and 'read.' A "Ginger Nut' is a very hard Australian biscuit. They dip it in tea to soften it. There are too many great Tim Minchin songs to choose just one. I think my favorites besides "Prejudice" are "Thank you God," and "Storm."

Terrific reaction to an Aussie legend. Your enjoyment of the song makes it even more enjoyable for me to watch. FYI, there’s a whole bunch of slang/derogatory terms for redheads in here that most people from US don’t get: Ranga - from Orangutan, a red haired ape most commonly found in Indonesia Fanta Pants - Fanta is a bright orange soft drink, fanta pants because orange p*bes Fringe - better known in the US as Bangs Ginger nuts - ginger flavoured cookies, rock hard so they normally get dunked into tea or coffee to prevent broken teeth, but of course Tim just HAD to make it into a double entendre Bozo - the clown with the red wig Fire Truck - just what it says Carrot-top - ditto Blood nut - nut is head (not sure if that’s common in the US, but just for completeness) Match stick - back in the days before disposable lighters became so cheap, Red Head was a ubiquitous brand of matches in Oz Tampon - I’ll let you work out the origin of that. Not that I ever heard it used that way. And the phrase “If you don’t have a tinge of Ginge in your minge” - minge is a less than polite reference to lady-bits in Oz, UK and NZ. I was lucky growing up. I had brownish hair, so I never copped the teasing that the real gingers did. It wasn't until I grew a beard in my early 20s that the ginger came out. I have a cousin who is a true copper-top. He really copped a load of flack when he was a kid.
