Firestorm was honestly incredible. The ring of fire added an essence of terror to the ring so common in other BR's due to it completely destroying everything. Amazing that they could do it without hurting gameplay. On top of that, BFV in general would make this list. If they added one more year of production, the new maps, vehicles, factions, etc. that would have been added honestly could have kept the game alive for another year or two and give more time to the production of 2042. It was horribly designed. It was a throwaway game for DICE. They left mechanics in the game that weren't ever intended for that game. Like they left headshot bonuses which encouraged people to sit back and try and earn score chains from a mile away. The spawn system was terrible. They divided the teams into two, and you had no choice on which half you were on. The issue with this was that the "spawn on the front" option had you spawn on the furthest member of your half of the team. Bringing this full circle, guess who was the furthest person back on your side of the team? The snipers trying to whore score chains. Last thing that sucked was the chokepoints. This game was really just a bunch of DICE experiments and the biggest one was map design. The chokepoints probably wouldn't have been so bad if they had fixed the score chains and spawn system, but they never did. Those two issues alone ruined that game for me and the overall flow of matches.

The Division had a lot of red flags leading up to launch. The way they cut away from enemies whenever combat broke out in the trailers to hide how spongey they were was one. Another red flag was the strange focus on the ability to close car doors. Not open them for cover. Not open them to drive them. But to close them while touching them. They also barely touched upon what the pvp would really be. Sure, I remember the first few weeks of the game being out and getting almost everyone in the DZ to work together to wipe out bosses and extract loot. But that passed quickly when the playerbase died off from rampant hacking. Which Ubisoft never really took care of. Even with Division 2, there's still a huge chance that a cheater will laser beam you while completely invisible underneath you.

Firestorm's biggest problem was the looting and gun/attachment mechanics. Yes, a F2P model would have helped limp it along a little longer, but ultimately the looting system is what killed this game mode. It was absolutely the number 1 topic on streamers/youtubers videos when they aired their frustrations with this game. They could have easily done a box system like apex/pubg and it would have saved this game mode. shame. DICE always is late to trends but then makes terrible design decisions that cause those modes to fail (yes, i'm looking at you Hazard Zone) and then they blame it on the fact that their community don't like those types of modes. Both Chromehounds and Lost Planet 2 had amazing multiplayer that shouldn't be lost to time. They're so unique and no one has managed to come close to either of those experiences, and I think they could thrive if they came out now.

Oh my I loved Evolve, the last game i ever brought a physical copy of. I was top 10 in the leaderboards by the end of its life :(. Miss it

Another promising title that did not reach its potential and failed shortly after launch was Anthem. I loved the concept and playstyle from the moment I started the game. The ability to cruise up to a 1000ft above ground in your Javelin made traveling between missions so much fun.

Destiny (the original) has a special place in my heart. It launched broken, the 2 smaller expansions were pretty empty. But it just had this feeling in those first 2 years which has me feeling super nostalgic. Something about the first few years of an MMO (or MMO-lite like Destiny) of absolute broken mess is special

Firestorm was literally incredible when it worked. The paywall and the multiple times where a patch literally broke the mode for over a month were what stopped Firestorm from taking over the BR space

Firestorm looks so dope. I hope they just release it as it's own free to play title. That would be awesome indeed.

4 out of the 7 games are under EA, this kinda speaks volume on how bad the company is.

Battle Born was another game that deserved so much better, but it launched at an awful time between BF1 and Overwatch

Before I watched the video, the first two games I thought of were Firestorm and Evolve. I had great fun on both, especially Evolve. I do miss Evolve on console, and it’s clear to see that there is a demand for more destruction-type fps shooters like Firestorm based on the reception that The Finals has received.

I honestly would like a battlefield x titanfall game. 32v32 with the start of the game having your traditional battlefield play but adding a reinforcement point(battlefront 2 style) for players be able to play as a pilot(mech pilots) that then earns points for a titan.
@Drainbamege Жыл бұрын
They actually had this game sort of. It was called Battlefield 2142.
@alpha198delta Жыл бұрын
I must disagree. Part of Titanfall's balance is that, while the pilot play is very fast-paced and up close (almost opposite of most Battlefield maps) requiring a lot of movement skill and accuracy to dominate, everyone WILL get multiple titans. In the words of Sir Swag, even the worst player can get something done with a 10 tonne death machine. Titanfall is too close and packed to really work in a large setting. I'd say 8 is the hard max for balance.

I loved Lawbreakers. The movement mechanics were so fun and really made each character feel unique in a way that no other class based FPS has achieved IMO. It is really a pity that it had to compete with Overwatch on release and never really stood a chance

Supreme commander 2 could have been so much better. It got cut way down by the publisher to work on console..cause of course RTS is great on console.

To this day, I say that Firestorm is my favorite Battle Royale. It just scratched every itch I had for a BR and 64 players was a _perfect_ number for it. The destructible environments, vehicles, the activities you could do in-game- it was, in my opinion, perfect. A damn shame what fate befell it and the rest of Battlefield V.

If big name streamers got together and held an event for Firestorm, I wonder if it would show DICE that people still wanna play it and maybe they would actually make it F2P?

Until this day I think the biggest multiplayer experience that people slept on is Crysis 1 Multiplayer. You could get bunch of weapons, use the suit, buy tanks that can literally shoot nukes! Nobody ever talks about the multiplayer in that game, however, that multiplayer was ahead of its time.

Idk, The Division is still one of the best games I've ever played. I feel like if it were more realistic, it wouldn't make me want to play. And if the Darkzone played like Tarkov I wouldn't have played it at all.

I met one of my best friends on crysis 3's multiplayer years ago, very fond memories of that experience. I don't think Titanfall 2 failed in any way, it just didn't go crazy with it's player count. Yeah the release window stifled what could have been but the game didn't really suffer for it, it had consistent and numerous content drops that added classic maps and more customisation options, more titans more guns. The hacking catastrophe was more putting the game to bed rather than choking the life out of it, as player numbers had dwindled massively by then. Since that point, the game has stabilized and still has a loyal player count. The game isn't dead, just living quietly.

I think Crysis 3 was the last game that I did closed testing work on. Sadly, fully predicted the issues it launched with because they were all there in Alpha state and were just never worked on. The gameplay you showed did bring back a few memories though! You forgot about Crysis Wars, which was an amazing game. Our clan had several servers running that were populated 24/7. DICE buggering up Firestorm pissed me off, too. It was so close to amazing, and fell so short.

3:57 *SimCity 2013* (the earlier games though), I remember that. Originally I was watching some twitch stream gameplay of *Cities: Skyline* , then I playfully labeled it as a *SimCity HD/4K* and some twitch chatter replied *It's what the last SimCity game wishes it was.* Good times.😎👾

I agree with Firestorm. That would have been my first foray into BR…..although I do enjoy Warzone at times…just don’t play often. But to have Battlefield destruction and the ring of fire, was such a cool idea.

One game I absolutely loved was singularity. Not really well known and multiplayer only had a mere 2 modes. But an enjoyable campaign and incredibly fun creature vs. human multiplayer gameplay made it one of my favorites, it died out too soon and I woulda loved to see a sequel
