Jennifer Bureau It's wonderful and he is very gifted! This singing style is called rubato; it's where there's a very expressive, loose rhythmic freedom by constantly slowing down or speeding up of the tempo between the singer and the accompanist! It's not that easy to do because there is a lot of musical interdependence and intuition at play, and usually requires an accompanist who knows how to listen very well to the singer's breathing patterns! Usually pianist or guitarist who come from a gospel/church background are the best for this style! I'm sure he has some of that in his pocket! Bravissimo!!!!

If only compensation was doled out fairly commensurate with talent. Taylor Swift made 266 million touring in 2018. For her album Reputation. Name one song off that album that you love. That you remember. That you hum. It sold well. Won awards. Yet nothing memorable. Today's music world is dominated by crap. The artists who flock it become richer. The artists like Tori Kelly who don't care about becoming pop icons and who follow their heart, struggle. They get some notice but not nearly enough. Tori Kelly is significantly more talented and better looking than Swift. Her bank account is 1/133rd that of Swift's.

Be patient, with any of the divine grace that she so deliciously extols here, it’ll be just a matter of time. If it’s still called such, the Top 40 is filled with performers who couldn’t complete the first line without AutoTune, and these two sit down and effortlessly knock this one out. And yes, Jon is a very talented guy - I’d love to see him collaborate with Kevin Eubanks and/or the Marsalis brothers - particularly Delfeayo. I don’t think he’s so much surprised that he can pull it off as he’s truly feeling the message of the song.
