Love the concrete residential floors, the idea of hydronic floor heating and its efficiency, and they stole my idea of finishing the concrete instead of covering it. Amazing amenities throughout and wish the owners the best; may they get to use it and share it all for many, many years to come.

Awesome. Not so many videos on lite deck out there with good details. Thanks for showing how you set the blocks up to make it mono pour. Couple details that would be awesome to include in future: 1. How do you handle it when you are going to polish the floors. (and how do you protect them once poured while the rest of the construction occurs?!?). 2. Different slump or water content for the floor section when you polish floors and mono pour? Thanks! Vids continue to get better.

I agree, it won't win any architectural awards, but I can appreciate the build quality. Between the pub and the hideous pool cover, I'm betting the owners are from the UK. I've seen that ugly pool cover before over there.

I see a lot of things I wanted to do with my house. I'm already having a basement under my garage and was deciding on either hollow core slabs with superior walls or ICF with Lite deck. I really liked the bar room at 15 minute mark. I was thinking about a cigar room like that too. I don't smoke or drink though, but still want one.

I really enjoy your videos, can't get enough. I definitely think you are one of the best builders on youtube. I'm about to do a similar project (radiant heated polished concrete floors, ICF walls, and thinking about using fastfoot as well) I poured a few concrete patios and drive ways, but have never done polished concrete. Most info I find online about polished concrete don't talk about new construction/ideal concrete mix and additives. What was the concrete mix and any additives? I'm also assuming you would want it laser screeded to lessen the amount of polishing required.
@all3pools
@all3pools 2 жыл бұрын
You may want to talk to a polishing co, they use a topical additive day of pour called potassium silicate, promotes crystalline growth and hardens the surface, then after a minimum of 27 days, they do the first (cut) they’ll grind it to 4-800 grit, usually after they get to 200 grit they hit it with lithium silicate to further the polish ability of the surface…. Then they usually come back to final polish and burnish to 1500 r 3000 grit right before the project is done, but there’s multiple ways to skin that cat!

There is something about real stone top, the price tag. That’s why synthetic tops are popular.
@all3pools
@all3pools 2 жыл бұрын
That’s not remotely true in my market, cambria and silestone are the two biggest market presences and they are both $10-15/ft more than most granites, and pretty close to par with more exotic stones…. I agree it shouldn’t be that way, but I think the popularity of the fake stuff and rising resin costs all contribute….

What is the life expectancy of all that pex tubing embedded in concrete? The idea of busting up a concrete floor to fix leaks would make me nervous.
@all3pools
@all3pools 2 жыл бұрын
Compared to an entire house being built out of products that rot? I don’t know how long pex lasts but it generally believed to outlast copper piping which I see in lots of rent houses going back to the 30’s…. Not to mention this pex is encapsulated in concrete so it was very little chance of being impacted by external forces… if your concern is a problem with concrete itself shifting, proper reinforcement should keep that below the threshold of damage to the pex!

Before the pour it’s super easy, not bad if it’s poured unless you have hydronic lines in the cast, then you should take extreme care pre pour to get the penetrations in, and make a map of the lines in case you need to drill something later

Why do you need Litedeck insulated ICF floors when there's no need for insulation inside?
@all3pools
@all3pools 2 жыл бұрын
You don’t need it for it’s insulative value per se, but it does help when doing hydronic heat, plus icf deck material like lite deck is the easiest way to create the slab and beam design that allows spans up to 40’! We’ve done it on a few pool rooms without lite deck and the forming process is considerably slower snd more costly….
