Fun to watch but if you want to try an amazing technology try a wheelbarrow and a shovel and cleaning up the floor. Must be great keeping the calluses off their feet though. 👍👍

That's pretty much what I was thinking although when I trained in mid 1970's making a small crankshaft was one of the test projects we did, just so we would know about setting up for precision offsets, etc

Good skills here, but I don’t understand why they have to work in a messy workshop. It takes only a few mins after each job to clean and take care of your work area. 👍🇬🇧

TheFoundry was not bad the Machine Shop was incredible hundreds of pounds of steel filings on the floor even with leather boots you're going to get cut somehow. Trip hazards especially with loose clothing that they're all wearing is bound to cause accidents.

Basic lathe work, nothing skilled there. Where was the drawing he should be working to? Where are his precision measuring gauges? Why has the crankshaft got sharp fillets, not good, possible cause/start of a fatigue crack? Was it off to the hardening and tempering shop? Was it pecision ground later ? Where are the oilways for bearing lubricant supply?

Very well done. Unfortunately, you haven't addressed the chips on the floor. Try selling them off. I'm sure they're worth more than the effort to clean them up.

I get a kick out of these videos. They normally show these guys scavenging through a pile of scrap metal and throwing everything they can get their hands on into a smelter that’s made out of a half burned out truck bed. Thirty minutes later they have a crankshaft ready to be installed. I would trust anything they do…the material they use or their craftsmanship. I’ll give them a C for effort but that’s about it. The rest is a clown show…

I’m not sure what the hell they are making except a huge mess. Clean up you work area and put the spent chips someplace else or maybe recycle it. Your work shop is a huge accident just waiting to happen. As for that part you are making. A crankshaft has to be made with much more attention to detail. You cannot just turn it down on. Lathe and expect it to work.
