Un diamant de la musique jazz un guitariste de folie 💪😍

Saw this same line up at the Atlanta Jazz festival in '86 or so. The whole audience was totally stunned by these guys. I was so blown away, I went right out and bought their album, I think it was "Kevin Eubanks: Guitarist". Still one of my favorites.

In my opinion this is even better than the studio album. After seeing this I started to understand that jazz can be really cool and powerful music.

I was driving around one day in DC in the early 80s when The Thumb came on the radio, from Kevin's first album, and I was so enthralled I pulled over into a parking lot and listened and wondered who the hell this was! Called the radio station later, got the info, got the album, still one of my favorite jazz albums, Kevin Eubanks Guitarist. It is amazing. Went to see him shortly thereafter, at the One Step Down (I think), what a super nice guy too. In between a set he came and sat down and I told him all that and he just blushed and said aww shucks or something, I laughed and stuck around to hear some of the best band/guitar playing I have ever witnessed.

Unbelievable I see this video after so many years. I used to have this on vhs also. Seajazz festival in Helsinki as I recall. After seeing this I quit listening to metal music and concentrated fully on jazz. Whether it was a wise decision, dont know:)
@JariBehm4 жыл бұрын
I almost had the same experience. I think it was this or UZEB which were first interesting jazz concerts which I saw from TV. Anyhow this concert did prove me show that jazz can be anything else but boring. I am still in metal as well in other types of music.

This music reminds me of the “royal festival hall” incarnation of the john McLaughlin Trio. I love this “cop chase” vibe and the mystical chord sounds and George benson style urgency.

Is that constant kick drum sound thing the drummer or an audio artifact? Works so well with video

Ok, well those are cool riffs/licks. But after 27 minutes where does it go? Very short little bridges sections aren’t quite enough when you’re playing the riff over and over for way too long.

Chet Baker was almost 1/10 as skilled. You earn the right to criticize a master when you have achieved a comparable level of mastery, which is less than highly unlikely, otherwise you are what is known as a troll.
