ITX outshined it due to the fact that if you are building mATX, it's because you're looking to build something minimal and for a while, ITX didn't offer full feature sets. However, now those boards do and have for quite a while.

@@achannelhasnoname5182 I'm well aware. I have built many ATX, mATX, and ITX systems. I still believe there's no one size fits all. Different people like different builds. For some, they want smaller than ATX even if it's only slightly but need more IO than what's on an ITX board. Or for others they don't need everything that's on an ATX board so if they can get an mATX board for $20-30 cheaper, they are super happy. More options is better. Last thing we want it to be forced into only having one size.

I got this case a couple of months ago. I spent so much time choosing the most practical case and I am pretty happy with my choice! Things that I love: - No tools are needed to remove the outer plates. - No stupid RGB lighting - No unpractical glass doors that add weight but are just to show off your RGB lighting - Mesh plates that help to ventilate the case - It's long enough to fit a full-sized GPU (Zotac RTX 3080 in my case) - USB-C port on the front panel - Quite lightweight - The price is pretty reasonable (Cost me about $80 USD) Things that I didn't like (because of the mesh walls): - The walls get dusty quite fast - The noise level is probably higher than with more enclosed cases. - RTX 4080 is too big for this case.

@@conprika540 It's an amazing case but the front I/O USB cable is pretty thick. I had to get a right-angle adapter for the USB header on my Aorus B550 Pro-P motherboard otherwise the cable kept interfering with the fans on the GPU. Dust could also be be a problem long term depending on your environment; it might need get the dust blown out regularly. @@conprika540 Sorry for the late reply. The only small downside for me was that cable management is something you'll have to spend your time on in this case. Also, not exactly a con but I added 2x140mm and 2x120mm fans but they lowered the temperature only by a couple degrees Celsius, probably because the mesh walls are doing a good job at ventilating the case already.

I thought it was just me but from the comments it seems that a lot of people still have love for mATX cases. For me it's the best size and it really should be the default for everyone. It has the only full bandwidth people really use for their GPU, enough space for ventilation, so no concerns like ITX cases, enough length for most GPUs, smaller footprint, enough to put the case on top of the table and of course the cheapest motherboards.

I agree. I went ITX when I built my last pc, but mATX every time prior. My old enclosure was a Fractal Mini R2. So it had soooo much flexibility. I use it as a NAS now, so since there's no GPU, I can have 6 3.5" drives, 2 2.5" drives and 1 m.2 ssd. That's an insane amount of storage. Even with a full sized GPU, you can can still have 3 3.5" drives and 2 2.5" drives. SLI/Crossfire isn't really a thing anymore, a lot of motherboards have multiple m.2 slots and built in wifi. I don't get the appeal of ATX nowadays unless you're trying to go super over the top.

Honestly I never understood why regular ATX formfactor is the most popular one. Parts are more expensive, for 95% of people the extra connectivity will never be used, and the only benefit from a case-perspective is that they're perhaps a bit easier to build in and you can support 360mm aio rads etc without much difficulty no matter what price range you buy from. But why is this the standard? I do not know.
@NightMotorcyclist
@NightMotorcyclist Жыл бұрын
@@Real_MisterSir In the older days it made sense as less things were integrated on the motherboard due to still rather large processes in manufacturing chips. Many PCs had separate add-in boards for specific tasks which was slowly being done away with as more things became integrated into the chipset or the CPU itself. Kinda the same reason it is still the platform of chioce for quite a few enthusiasts today as they can load it down wit more add-ins like more NVMe drives, SATA drives, GPU, Capture cards, sound cards etc. An ATX sized tower also has plenty of space for multiple radiators or tricked out custom loops or just more space to cable manage. mATX is a good compromise for those who don't need as much add-ons and would take a smaller footprint that still offers some expandability as opposed to Mini ITX systems.

I saw this case last year and knew I had to have it, so I bought it. It's absolutely gorgeous. It looks very unique with some RGB in it as the square mesh creates a pixelated effect. I love how my GPU seems to almost fill up the bottom of the case, while not being suffocated at all. I saw someone on reddit who managed to get an extra 120mm fan on the bottom and even one in the front using the rubber anti-vibration mounts. They kind of fit through the mesh of the bottom panel and inner front panel. I did the same so I have 8 fans (4 in, 4 out). I do have a small form factor PSU which helps with the front fan, and you will lose your option to place an SSD there. Also I turned the PSU so it takes in air from the front instead of from the inside of the case. My el-cheapo Artic p12 fans are quiet in this case, but you do hear air flow, but also I don't hear it because I game with my headset on.

ASUS AP201 is godlike. My 331mm 4090 fits perfectly with the middle PSU position, and the temps are similar to bequiet 500DX. I'm sure I can get them lower with a more aggressive bottom fan curve. AIO compatibility is better as well, even if Arctic's thick radiator makes me route the back fan perpendicular to PCI-E slots. Note that most new mATX boards have an M.2 slot above the x16 slot for GPU. It will be challenging to fit anything under a 3+ slot GPU with such layout, as the GPU effectively starts at the case's second slot. You can see the nano clearance that Kleo Yan has with a 2.5 slot GPU and Phanteks T30 fans when using an M.2 above x16 motherboard in this case. For AM5, the options where the x16 slot aligns with the case's first slot are: 1) ASROCK B650M PG Riptide (barebones) 2) ASUS PRIME B650M-A II (barebones) 3) Any GIGABYTE board (numerous coil whine reports) 4) ASUS X670E Crosshair ($600) 5) ITX boards The rule of thumb: if the middle mounting screws align with the x16 slot, then this is a motherboard with better GPU clearance (and inferior air cooler clearance)

With my ITX board, the top corner at the back toward the right panel is extremely stuffed even with tubes coming from the "front" end of the radiator. One of the AIO fans is pressing on the CPU cable to the point that I didn't use the radiator/fan screw there. Routing the back fan cable there would have been too much. I made it go perpendicular to PCI-E slots and into the nearest bottom cable hole to connect into a fan splitter along the outer wall of the right side panel.

About freakin time! I have always loved m-ATX, and that is especially true now that most ATX boards barely have 3 expansion slots on them. I just don't get how most people don't find 4-5 slots to be perfect. It gives you 2 slots for a sensible GPU, a slot for a sound card, one for a RAID or capture card and maybe one more for anything else like expanded USB or WiFi/BT card. Now if we could just get some premium m-ATX motherboards again instead of all of them being budget boards now days. I still have multiple ASUS ROG GENE boards in use and they have more functionality than about any m-ATX board you can buy today.

More ❤for mATX. For some reason it's the least released form factor, but the best imo. Compact yet 4 dimm slots. Always liked it the most. ATX is uneccessarly big and itx is to limited. Nice to see the power cord connector in the back being vertical, on NR200 its not, which ruins some fan/radiator configs.

I bought this case when I realized the H210i was too big for my build. It is really cool but I will say that dust accumulation is a thing. I'm glad it's getting noticed a bit more, maybe that way Asus starts selling accessories to change the PSU location or add a fan bracket or a glass side pannel. I will say, I'm pretty certain that the Lian Li O11 bracket for the upright GPU would fit on this case... But I wouldn't buy it to find out, really.

i have pretty much always been a matx person, don't want a giant tower. Just moved my main rig into a fractal define 7 mini and i absolutely love it. The best front IO available on a matx case as well as nice sound reduction keeps the system whisper quiet and my pretty basic hardware is still nice and chill inside.

I just built this case for someone. It easily fit a ATX PSU, mATX motherboard, 280mm AIO, 2x120mm fans, 2x 3.5inch HDDS and two 2.5inch SSDs along with a 6800XT. No problem at all :)

I like mATX. It sacrifices some features, but still has plenty. Personally I'd love something weird that sits between matx and itx. Like all 4 ram slots, use a riser for the GPU and put it behind the mobo, and still fit a few low profile 1x or 4x cards.

Two things missing from this review and case itself. For one, all of these holes should have been covered by dust filters to reduce its accumulation inside. And second, while you can move PSU bracket, if I recall correctly, you are limited by power cable flex when with 360 rad in the top, eg. you cannot orient the PSU intake towards the front on majority of PSUs, and moving lower would cut on GPU length support.

TG would look weird; the 360 perforation looks clean and is the main feature of the case. The glow coming from your components but not being able to see them fully is kinda cool. If you want to see your goods I recommend the NR200 or a fractal case...

Love the case. I would use a hole saw to cut the floor out from under the fans on the bottom. It leaves enough surround to still attach the screws. Plus that bottom filter still works for dust as you are going intake down there. Also you eliminate that whine and improve airflow. Easy mod!

I got the black TG version. Its hella nice. I was able to stuff it with two T30 phantek fans , 3 arctic P12 fans, ROG AIO and b760 I mb , 13900k bracketed and a msi trio 4090 . With the glass closed the GPU hits 60ish max temps and cpu does 70ish max temps after hrs of CyberPunk at ultra settings. Its a great case with plenty of airflow and space but you MUST use a SFF power supply if youre going to run a 4090 or other card of similar size.

4:30 this panel could be used to mount 3-4 SSDs (with making it cagy and with finding a proper position to not block a GPU fan; or with putting it closer to a PSU ). I don't believe Asus engineers ignored this option. At least we could try a double sided scotch tape

I love Micro ATX! For me its the fact that I can have a smaller overall rig without compromising on obvious features like you sometimes do with ITX (like having four ram slots) the better airflow thru most mATX cases vs ITX SFF cases helps too

mATX is my favorite and imo best firm factor. Modern PC's don't need to be so giant. It doesn't add any real value after a certain size. Matx gives u extra pcie slots, more space for ram slots, more space for good VRM's, and space for I/O on the back of the board. Perfect size to be compact without missing power.

I only use M-ATX for years now... for me the best size for computers at the moment... Also one of the best cases and not very loved is the TT Core V21... cheap and amazing for all around build.... Horizontal Board placement is the best for air cooling... Not so much tension on the air coolers and even for the gpu the vertical stand is way more stable and secure... It allows 1x200mm, 2x140 or 2x120 on the front, 1x140 on the back, and then on top you can get 2x120 + 2x140. Cons of that case... cheap built panels (mesh, or acrilic)... Not enough mesh filters (but it can be purchased from demciflex) only usb 3.0 ports on the sides. Go ahead purchase one and test it out...

I wish this was available a couple years back. It was a challenge trying to find a case that had a front or side facing power button along with USB-C. (Cats kept stepping on the top-facing power button on my old case. The few I could find were either >$200, or lacked the ventillation needed for a >500 watt system. So while I'm happy enough with the MetallicGear O11D knockoff, this would have been ideal.

I wish the PSU shroud had a cut out on the side for the new Corsair SHIFT PSU's as they're the perfect PSU for mATX cases that have a front mount PSU as the cables coming out the side mean it looks really clean and won't interfere with the GPU length.

I have a SAMA IM-01 and its main flaw is they didn't offset the bottom fan mounts, so the USB and front panel headers of a mATX mobo conflict with any non-slim fans mounted down there; the AP201 looks like it solves that, but at the expense of giving up the side fan/radiator bracket and flexible PSU cage (SAMA IM-01 is just a mATX clone of the NR200P, so it has the same PSU cage that can be mounted at the front or on the side).

I welcome this idea of the PSU being in the front to use that PSU fan to actually help with airflow inside the case maybe? On off switch being inside is a problem imo. You should not need to remove a panel to put the psu on and off.

This case bests or ties with the Lian Li Lancool III and Fractal Torrent in terms of temperatures, when you pack it to the brim with fans. ASUS only gave you one fan, because they knew people would buy their own. I bought this right when it came to the US in September, 2022 and have loved it ever since!
