Great video. However, nothing "amazing" here on the take off. Just great crew CRM and a well-operated MD-80, though the original MD-80 was still all analog, I think from the MD-83 and on, they went to a 4-tube EFIS like this one. In my days in the DC9, the capt started the engines, but I think this is a more efficient way (F/O starting them), especially during pushback. Thanks for sharing.

After 50 years of independence and little was done to that lone international airport. You call that development? In a country wealthy with natural resources and larger than England and Wales put together, That airport should have a longer runway, a much larger building structure and a much more professionally managed system. When Guyanese arrive in places like Barbados, which also marks 50 years of independence, and has no natural resources and depends 99% on visitors and tourists, their jaws drop when they see 11 jumbo jets lined off side by side with a terminal building 20 times larger and outfitted with the most modern equipment. Then they go into Bridgetown and experience shopping in modern fully air conditioned stores with escalators and other facilities. This makes me shamed to call myself a Guyanese. Well now we have a brand new Administration, Let's hope they wake up and smell the coffee and get with it.

TIMEHRI is an Amerindian word; the name was formerly changed from Atkinson Airport to TIMEHRI in honour of and out of respect for the Amerindians who have been said to be the FIRST migrants to the then British Guiana. And Dr. Cheddi Jagan Airport... the reason being - - - what?
