Julian Mellor: Senior Golfer Transformation Coach

I got the opportunity to play a few holes at Coventry Golf Club and decided to play shots from lots of different places on the course which included uphill lies, down hill lies, fairway bunkers, green side bunkers, chipping and recovery shots from the trees. I hope you benefit from watching this video! If you are serious about your golf, join me on www.ProperGolfing.com, where you'll get monthly coaching sessions with myself, a weekly invite to my zoom Q&A meetings, and instant access to hundreds of detailed coaching videos.

Thank you Lenny, I love golf and it amazes me when I see golfers get so angry when they play. Golf, as we both know it a puzzle to be figured out so doing this the easiest way has to be a great way to play 👍

Thanks, Julian, for such a professionally filmed array of shots from difficult lies. Your video and audio quality are now first rate, as well.

I’d like to share my recent success in engaging Julian Mellor as my swing coach. I’m a 72 year old senior left handed golfer from Virginia. I have played for over 50 years. Golf is a major focus of my retirement years. It gives me great pleasure to report my handicap index yesterday fell below 10 for the first time in my life. I have Julian to thank for that. My story- About 3 years ago I was struggling with inconsistent ball striking. I found Julian and his colleagues on KZbin, started working with the Easy Swing philosophy and incorporating la dance du golf in my pre- shot routine. It worked quite well over time. However, about 4 months ago my swing began to deteriorate and my scores ballooned up. I was really frustrated. Something was off. Poor drives, chunky weak irons.. skulled chip shots to name a few. So I decided to engage Julian in a 60 day improvement program … remotely. In the beginning, my wife video recorded my swing with different clubs from various angles and I emailed them off to Julian. (Btw, if you’ve never seen a video of your golf swing, be prepared… uuugh!). I didn’t know what to expect in return .. maybe a focus on la dance du golf? Sending along already available videos from KZbin?…canned responses that he gives everyone? I had no idea. What I received was problem identification and improvement guidance on the idiosyncrasies of MY swing. It was personal, direct and easy to understand. I tried his suggestions, exchanged more videos.. kept him up to date on results. We went through it all- from driving, irons, punch and runs, putting.. the whole gamut. I would have never ever identified these issues on my own let alone fixed them. I’d been trying for 50 years! I couldn’t be happier. Particularly when I really pure a 6 iron or pound out a long straight drive with a controlled and relaxed swing. There is no better feeling. Thank you Julian for what you’ve done for me. You’ve made my game what it is today, and set the groundwork for long term continued improvement. Your most grateful student from Virginia, Lloyd Anderson Ps- if anyone has a question of me and my experience, I’d be happy to answer.

Hello Julian, it is good the be watching your teaching again. I drifted away to a popular stack & tilt instructor’s method for a few months. Though I did have some success with it I became very inconsistent and most of all I would be worn out and sore after a round. This past week I thought I’d get back to the easy swing or more relaxed method so of course I went back looking for your content. I really focused on staying relaxed and not worrying about the dreaded straight arm I had been employing. I shot my best round yesterday with an 82 and most of all did not feel worn out or sore. I even played another 6 holes with no scoring just to practice. I absolutely love this type of content and am glad you are putting it out there. Your other content I’ve seen has been spot on as well. Thank you so much! From Charleston, South Carolina.

Also a piece from one of your videos about the swing from the top of the backswing is one motion (paraphrasing) was huge for me. I have a bad habit of striking at the ball. I was doing the drill where you start with the club forward and go to the top of the backswing, a little pause at the top an swing through. Solid gold golf teaching there.

Julian, I recently viewed the latest video submitted by your mentor Brian Sparks. A follower of his philosophy and videos made a comment that I found a little disappointing. He was suggesting that as a past student of Brian’s swing philosophy you are moving away from these teachings to maybe satisfy a larger audience. I started watching you and Brian because I believed in this philosophy. I would like to hear your opinion on the follower’s comments and what direction or changes you are making to teaching the proper swing.

I can confirm that I have left ES but not changing the principles of the way I coach Richard, I feel there are further things I can explain to make things even easier which could be easily overlooked and that’s one of the reasons I’ve started Propergolfing.com

@@JulianMellor thanks Julian. The ES method rekindled my interest in golf because I could see an improvement from that of my earlier years in golf. The principles of the easy swing as you know and have stated are ideal for an aging golfer. I am sold on your methods and will continue to watch all of your videos to see where the method can be improved.
