What a transition! Guy’s swing looks amazing. Not just shallowing, u can tell he worked on staying down and getting that lead hip to push back. I could watch that all day.

Fantastic video. The squat \ rotation move I've been working on really caused an over the top move I couldn't figure out. The bowing move you demonstrated instantly shallowed the club and got it back on plane and helped me stay down. Cheers

Again a super video Jonathan. Bowed wrist is good for a stable structure at impact. No need to say anything about the shallow attack - mandatory. Keep 'em coming...

I’ve been trying to figure out how to shallow the club for some time now. I know I’m doing it wrong but haven’t been able to fix it. This makes so much sense to me, almost a lightbulb moment, I’m going to start practicing this drill right now. I’ve already downloaded skillest app and am going to look at getting some lessons from you. Great video, thanks!

The amount of amazing information and tips I’m getting from you is mind blowing . I had multiple pga pro golf camps under my belt, and every single one reinforced the “club must be pointing up at 1/4 swing” which lead me to have a very steep swing with wrist release. With every video I watch I realize I have to completely reconstruct my swing. The training stick on the grip really helped visualize it for me, gonna head to the range today and try to shallow!

I took this to the course today and shot even par. Keeping the left wrist bowed and rotating worked. Thanks

Inspiring transformation. Although not laid off at the top, I have the exact same problem on coming down too steep and having to stand up and losing rotation. I hit a lot of thin irons. This really gives me hope that I can ingrain the changes for the swing I want!

Hi Jonathon! I was watching the golf swing from your student on the right! It is a better golf swing with the shallowing, but i am willing to bet he has lost a good 20-40 yards of distance due to the iron's face still remaining open. Unless he closes the club face before impact he will lose distance yardage. That is what i have found personally for myself. Close the face before impact or else it will go extra high in the air and you will lose distance on the shot. Haven't checked all your videos, but if you could expand more about closing the club face before impact that would be great. Thanks. Cheers.
@jchowngolf2 жыл бұрын
Not even close bud, he gained 20 yards. And that club face is far from open.
@herbie4u20092 жыл бұрын
@@jchowngolf just that it looked open. I had problems in the past by shallowing and not closing the club face before impact. I was hitting a 6 iron 140 yards at first and then made sure to close the club face and went to 165 yards afterwards. Do you have a video you can direct me to that explains the shallowing and closing the club face before impact? Thanks Jonathan.

A good hip turn in the back swing is a precursor to a good down swing pivot, is this accurate?

I had online lessons about 1 year ago and I got into similar positions that your student was in but my ball contact was horrible. How many lessons did it take for him to make those changes?
@jchowngolf3 жыл бұрын
Was your swing in a place suited for shallowing and rotation?
@hbyrdut3 жыл бұрын
@@jchowngolf I think so. My instructor seemed to be pleased with where I was. Could have probably used some left wrist bowing though.

So is there or do you feel a little loop in transition from backswing to your forward swing..
@jchowngolf3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, leaving the hands and arms up whilst moving into the downswing 👍🏼

Amazing. How is that possible?

Great video, seems logical and it obviously worked for this student, but I have a question? Doesn't the change you made here decrease the "depth" in the back-swing? In one of your earlier videos "WHY YOU CAN’T ROTATE IN THE DOWNSWING" you seem to describe the exact opposite as a cause/correction for lack of rotation? The student in this video loses depth and increases rotation but in "WHY YOU CAN’T ROTATE IN THE DOWNSWING" lack of depth prevents rotation. I'm confused?????
@jchowngolf3 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud. Some depth was removed as a byproduct, but his depth was still in a manageable place to be able to turn, especially as my student applied a lot of trail side bend coming into impact which will nullify a slight lack of depth 👍🏼
@nobrien12 жыл бұрын
Dumb question: So why not just take the club back on the same plane as the downswing? What is gained by taking it back high and then dropping it?
@jchowngolf2 жыл бұрын
That would be extremely hard to do due to how gravity effects the centre of mass of the shaft. The COM wants to fall behind us due to gravities effect of it. The COM falling more behind us (shallowing the shaft) enables the body to freely rotate through the ball, resulting in a more consistent clubface pattern through impact 👍🏼

What exactly prompts the downswing? Is it the arms coming down or the hips rotating or sequence of both?
@jchowngolf3 жыл бұрын
Our feel was leaving the hands and arms up whilst turning the lower body and mid torso into the downswing 👍🏼
