This is when AC/DC were the best rock and roll band on the planet. "Sin City" is one of their blues rock tracks, off what many punters believe is their greatest album, *Powerage.* For me, watching Bon at the height of his powers always makes me feel melancholic, and nostalgic. I was born in Perth, WA, Bon's home town (he was born in Scotland, but moved to Melbourne when he was six and Perth when he was 10). For working class Aussies, AC/DC was our band, and Bon was our voice. I know the lads went on to conquer the world, but it is here, in this performance, that I see the band I loved so much. Vale, Bon. You are still deeply, deeply missed. 🤘🤘

Thanks for reacting to this... most people miss reacting to this particular live performance by ACDC, and yet it is one of their best ever filmed. This is truly ACDC at their best and one of their last shows with Bon Scott. "Sin City" is one of their most under rated songs, it is better in concert than on the album... but it is an important step in the direction the band was headed.

Sadly, this show in late 1979 in Paris, France was one of the last performances of Bon Scott (vocals) w/ AC/DC... He died unexpectedly in February 1980... From what I heard, this AC/DC show on the 'Highway to Hell' tour was filmed for a local release only. However, after the death of Bon Scott, the filmmakers sold the footage for an international release as the concert movie 'Let there be rock: the movie'... AC/DC did not put any overdubs or studio work into the live audio (which was stellar, even w/ the odd glitches) Before YT, this concert movie was the only way AC/DC fans could see Bon Scott perform w/ the band in the 80's. It wasn't until 1997 that AC/DC felt comfortable releasing the legacy of Bon Scott w/ the band w/ the boxed set 'Bon fire'... From what I gather, it was painful for the band members when he died and worse when the news media gave him a 'bad obituary'... But Bon Scott was a truly remarkable character who re-shaped AC/DC's sound when he joined in 1974 and took them to the brink of stardom in 1979... AC/DC broke big in 1980 w/ singer Brian Johnson... but it was Bon Scott who got them there. Many older AC/DC fans still mourn his death.

AC/DC (Australia) Line-Up ("Powerage" album 1978) Bon Scott: Vocals Angus Young: Lead Guitars Malcolm Young: Rhythm Guitars, Backing Vocals Cliff Williams: Bass Phil Rudd: Drums "Powerage" is their fifth studio album released on 5 May 1978 in the United Kingdom and 20 May 1978 in the United States. This was the band's first album to feature Cliff Williams on bass guitar, and it was also the first AC/DC album not to have a title track (aside from the Australia-only "High Voltage" album) and the first worldwide not to be released with a different album cover. "Sin City"explores the seductive charms and dangers of Las Vegas. While initial sales were somewhat disappointing, "Powerage" surpassed its predecessor, "Let There Be Rock", by reaching No. 133 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart in the US, eventually achieving platinum certification. In 2005, "Powerage" was ranked number 325 in Rock Hard magazine's book The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time. Kerrang! magazine listed the album at No. 26 among the "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time" Original European LP release All tracks are written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott Side one 1. "Rock 'n' Roll Damnation" 2. "Gimme a Bullet" 3. "Down Payment Blues" 4. "Gone Shootin'" 5. "Riff Raff" Side two 6. "Sin City" 7. "Up to My Neck in You" 8. "What's Next to the Moon" 9. "Cold Hearted Man 10. "Kicked in the Teeth" Cheers from CHILE dear ladies!!!

I think (if I remember correctly) that Bon's pants started with a little tear, then got so big that they duct taped it to hold it together. It's in the movie Let There Be Rock. I saw AC/DC in Corpus Christi in September or October of 79. Molly Hatchet was the opening band. Bon died a few days before my 15th birthday.

I believe Ladders and Snakes is a board game that the US may know as Chutes and Ladders. "ladders give" you move up and "snakes take" you fall back in the game. eluding IMO that in the song you pay for all your greed and excess. And Bon accepts it.
@joecarcione66363 ай бұрын
Exactly! Ladders and Snakes is the British version of Chutes and Ladders. Also, when Bon sings "Cut that pack," Americans would say "cut that deck." Similarly, Bon sings about "The Jack" in another popular AC/DC track whereas Americans are more familiar with the term "the clap."

Paris - one of the greatest concerts, with Bon at his best. And Sin City was a BIG hit. Not as big as Highway to hell or TNT, but it WAS and is one of the best songs, just like She got balls, ride on (that is AC/DCs best song! Bon in a "mood"), the Jack - nobody sings so good about a STD :D, crabsody in blue (another great STD-song) or whole lotta rosie - a song about that tasmanian chick that nailed 20 guys in that month and "destroyed" Bon so badly he wrote that lyrics....

The singer Bon Scott was leaving us way too early at the age of 33 in 1980, he actually drank him self to dea*h. AC/DC is a really good band and they are still going, even though most of the band is new members nowadays. But man.. back in those days, Angus really kept going on the stage doing crazy stuff like jumping around and swinging that guitar like Leatherface are swinging that chainsaw at the very end of the 1974 Texas Chainsaw massacre.. thanks for the the video, and I really like Lulu´s beltbuckles, I noticed she has quite a few of them.. :D
@bernie43663 ай бұрын
AC/DC at the absolute top of their game and one of their best songs. For some reason you rarely see a reactor channel doing anything from Powerage, which is easily their best album. Brian Johnson was basically an Andy Capp cartoon character but Bon was the real deal, a genuine dangerous man and a hugely talented songwriter and frontman. To this day about 90% of their live set is composed of songs from before 1979, and it's pretty much confirmed these days that Bon wrote Back in Black before he died as well. You might wanna try Riff Raff next. Donna's remembering back when she was a sweet young thing in '79 and wishing she was in Paris with the band lol

Yeah, it sucks. I remember the news of his death very well at the time. I didn't feel like listening to AC/DC after that, but I did give Brian Johnson a chance, but musically it's become heavier, more serious and less carefree, and I find Johnson's vocals forced. Back in Black must not have played on my turntable more than a dozen times. I sold the album shortly afterwards. In my opinion, AC/DC without Bon Scott was no longer AC/DC.
