@@virginiaconnor8350 It is a Schapendoes indeed, FCI Breed 313 (Nederlandse Schapendoes), at Crufts not allowed to compete at the show cause there are too few examples of the breed in the UK :(

Keep calm. It's just the arousal. Dogs scratch themselves when they are unsure for a moment and need a second to think. It's not conscious and no, it is no sign for an illness. The dog is purely fine and just little too excited. Remember humans do the same, just watch out for it the next days and be prepared for very insignificant short hand moves while thinking or feeling uncomfortable. The person doing it mostly doesn't recognize it.

If you can't see how much that dog (and others taking part in these competitions) is enjoying working together with their human like this and you can't understand how most dogs not only enjoy, but *need* mental simulation and *need* to be engaged in some kind of "work" where they feel needed and want to do a good job at whatever task is needed (whether like this or agility, flyball, fetching, tracking, guiding or herding, etc.), then perhaps you shouldn't have dogs - since you can't understand their needs (like their need to "work") and therefore probably won't be able to fulfill their needs and instead make them bored and confused, treating them like human babies.

Czadzikable You go, bro! Way to tell off a “ know- it-all” lazy person. Even my little Yorkies had obedience titles and loved the applause and attention. Training your dog in a loving and attentive fashion brings out the best in them- and makes them happier and healthier. Nothing is sadder than an ignored and untrained dog ! They want to be our best friends!
