I found a small cabinet for “free” on the street I lived on. When I brought it home my husband cleaned out the drawer and found some gold teeth. I took them down to a local pawn shop and got enough money to buy a belt sander. I love telling people that story. ❤️

I’m more of a restoration person. When I first saw this piece in its original design I immediately wished I had it. When I realized you were going to transform it I became disheartened. A very useful video, and good to hear a Lancashire lad narrating on KZbin! I picked up a dressing table from Fleetwood just this weekend, first project of this kind for me & my wife, and you’ve settled a debate we were having: she wanted to manually sand the thing, I told her an electric sander would be fine but she disagreed - I’m going to show her this video to put her mind at ease!

Absolutely gorgeous! I really like the more calming music especially if your watching a long video. I would suggest to list the products you used. I’m super interested in the veneer repair and went to look for what you used and didn’t see it. Can you tell me what you used? I see beautiful pieces all the time, but then pieces of the veneer missing so I always go, nope, and move on. Also do you wash out the paint container and then use the same one for the finish? Or a different one? How do you clean your sprayer? How tos for a sprayer video would be awesome. I’m scared to try one. This piece clearly has a life story. Thank you for saving her, or maybe him since the piece is on the more masculine side.
@MayfieldRestorations2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alison. Thankyou so much for watching and I really appreciate your suggestions. I will go into the video today and list the products I use (Great idea) and something I should have thought of. Also I appreciate your suggestion to do a video on the detail of spraying as I appreciate it can be daunting when first using one, I’ll definitely do a how to on this. The veneer I used for this small repair is “WoodPress® 22mm Real Walnut Iron-On Edging - 7.5m Roll - Pre-Glued Wood Veneer Tape”. It was from Amazon and they do a range of different wood variations. I have a few techniques on using veneer so I may do a short video on this all. Thanks again for taking the time for your suggestions and I hope to hear from you again on future video. Much appreciated. 😀

Firstly, you've nothing to be concerned about re your voice-over, you did a great job. As a big fan of 1940s style, I was worried when I saw the paint & new legs, but you made me happy with your old-school approach; assessing & cleaning, repairing & restoring, nourishing & protecting. I saw one YT vid 'restore' one of those really old & low wooden bathroom stools once used for kids to reach the sink or toilet. Like many others, she'd slapped white chalk paint straight on "because it doesn't require prep" - I pointed out that it may not require prep, but after the item had been in somebody's loo for decades, it certainly required cleaning. Looking forward to your next project :)
