Still my favorite Far Cry. FC3 was great, but started the tagging/wall hacks/hand-holding easy gaming. Vaas was a great villain, but I hated the way the south island was so incredibly different. Even the first few minutes of my first play through I disliked the south island. FC4 came close to knocking FC2 off my pedestal, I can't understand why more folks don't consider it one of the better ones. Far Cry Primal? LOL, I didn't even bother. FC5 is very good at gameplay, but the BS with gameplay being interrupted with "getting caught" by the three region heads was terrible and came close to ruining the game for me. I'm willing to suspend disbelief when playing, but FC5 expected too much in that regard. I don't want to be too harsh though, FC5 came SUPER close to exceeding FC2 for me. A lot of folks talk about a re-master of FC2, that wouldn't work for me, I've replayed over 30 times, I can't see doing it again without wholesale changes. What I'd like is for FC6 to capture the hopelessness and sheer terror I felt MANY times when playing FC2. No wall hacks, no tagging, no easy play, no drug scenes, no quicktime events, no supernatural BS, no crap filler like card games and driving contests. Lastly, I hope Ubisoft can eventually allow themselves to produce a game where you actually feel like you did something good/honorable at the end.

FarCry2 is my favourite FPS of all time and I was sitting here nodding along with you until I got to your Primal dismissal. All I can offer is that Primal is easily my second favourite FC after FC2, and in survival mode with the HUD and tagging turned off is also easily the most immersive since 2 as well and should provide you as it did me with that "hopelessness and terror" that you crave. Definitely at least take another glance in its direction, mate. You may find an unexpected gem in a game you have written off so easily. Should be quite cheap now too. Noah Caldwell-Gervais has a great video on the Farcry Retrospective. That would be my recommendation. But of course, feel free to ignore me. Just a (somewhat suprised) fellow FC2 fan giving my two-penneth worth. :)

My son in law guarantees I'd enjoy it, maybe when its nearly free. No guns is bothersome to be sure, but not a deal breaker. Spotter/bomber owl? Hmmmm. Invented language so I have to have it displayed on screen, Hmmm. Glad you enjoyed it though.

I had reservations about the owl too, and so I just rarely use it at all, and never for 'bombing'/attacking. You just don't unlock that perk on the skill tree if you don't want it. It is handy for scouting whats ahead sometimes though as I don't use the 'Hunter Vision' (same as eagle vision in AC games) either, and the game is quite tough on 'Survivor mode'. -- The invented language was a major plus for me, it's really well designed and implemented. It would have been absolutely nonsensical to have them speaking English and there is not that much of it anyway really. I prefer a silent protagonist like in FC2 because when you get somebody as hateful and douchey as Jason Brody in FC3 it really pulls me out of the game. But Takkar says very little at all, and you're mostly just giving your tames a loving 'Ashhhh', or 'Rammm' as you call them , dismiss them or give the fur on heads a ruffle.

I hate people saying they don't even pay attention to primal. I hear it far too often. Just goes to show why game developers don't do anything original anymore. Nobody even bothers to give it a try and just blow it off as a joke. Sad

You don't kill your enemies with the dart rifle, after a while they will get up and alert the others.

@@GunsNGames1 huh in the game, dart rifle is loaded with neurotoxins. I unlocked a few safehouse only with it too. IRL it's tranquilizer, but in the game it's instant kill

Great video. For me Far cry 2 was better than 3 just for the basics. Like simple roadside outposts that were just a pain in the a hole but great when we had killed everybody.

best fc game ever . fc1 is a classic i skipped school for 2days when got my hands on it :) fc p. a whole different story for me a secret favourite ;) DASWorkshop already expressed my thoughts on fc games . the only difference is fc3 had a strong console taste. don't get me wrong i own green and blue as well and all matters for me is gamplay but what i meant is it was just childish easy and stupid. I was liked to have a fun in fc4 it gave me the feeling of a stupididiotlittlekid running around with a big gun and much needed freedom as well . fc5 / just finished / same as fc3 but top of that is sooo dumb i mean extremely and because of that it's very boring like hell always the same thing going on always . boring . and top of all of this the game forces u into the story mode whhhat???? i hate it fukkyou . before i started to play fc5 i was killing time with madmax . after let's say 10 hrs i was playing madmax and killing time with fc5. i newer gonna play with fc5 again never. and not because of all the things what i don't like no no no because it's dragging a good old fc experience down into the mud
