One of my earliest memories is when I was 4 years old watching these magnificent planes fly out of the Witchita, Ks plant over my home town 30 miles away on the way to war, some going East, and others turning West. There were alway several in formation. I can also remember the men coming home, getting off the train with their lunch buckets, after a long day at Boeing building them.

It made me sad to think my dad probably flew most of them. He is long gone now, but to this day, my sister says "Dad is watching over us" every time she sees a contrail in the sky. Funny how my old 1990's VHS camcorder would record planes starting, taxiing, and flying at airshows and the footage always showed the propellers turning naturally...now all these digital devices can't get the right "frame rate" or whatever technical reason and always show the props turning slowly, bending, fluttering, turning backward..drives me nuts...seems like they could get that right if they could on the old equipment....
