My ADHD made me focus on the spider that entered the screen at 14:12 just at your right shoulder. It lingered for a bit then dropped away. Great review. Definitely going to add this to my kit for future videos.

Hi. I'm a film-maker speaking from my own channel. No, this mic doesn't do stereo. While it can record BOTH mics at the same time, it fuses or "mixes" the two recordings together into one recording. Would still be cool to play around with this feature to see what effects you could get from combining a sensitive side (for longer distances) with the up-close-and-personal side (for speaking directly into). If it is mixed that would explain weird sound of "rear" mic when set F+R you have experienced. You simply don't hear only the rear mic. You hear both capsules but they do not mix well as one signal is coming aproximately 2ms later causing phase-cancellation. If you intend to speak only form behind the camera you MUSN'T use front capsule. It is using the mic in a wrong way.

why did you test it on the Sony ax53 camcorder?

That's a camera I would use in this situation and also a camera that has terrible onboard audio and works perfectly with a small mic like this.

Yes, you could use this on a laptop. You wouldn't need anything. Just plug it in, switch to phone mode and you should be good.
