Six nice and easy tips for using Speedpaints on flat panels and space marines! You can still get very quick and decent results even when the paint isn't at it's best on flat panels, and above anything for me, I just thoroughly enjoy the painting style with Speedpaints.

I like the new speed paint as I am a very slow at painting with traditional paints. Great video.

I’ve always been quite quick but even so I love the speed we can get miniatures done with Speedpaint. I really enjoy the finishing a miniature aspect of painting. Glad these paints are helping you paint faster too!

nice tips. I got two tips to add. 1) try to always apply the paint for the highest part of the panel dragging it down and to keep working in a vertical up to down motion while keeping the model orientated the position it is supposed to be in when finished. this isn't always possible but a good rule to try and follow for smoother results and since it lets the paint flow where it wants to a bit easier. 2) if you notice any of those annoying spots where your base layer is shining through glaring at you angerly for one reason or another, just take a brush with some speedpaint (or contrast) on it and stab it gently at the part you missed previously, once it's dried it's barely noticeable. btw, the clip that started at 1:13 was not the most enjoyable to watch, could feel my epilepsy wanting act up.

Great additional tips! Sorry about the flashy clip! Wasn’t supposed to be :( but I guess that’s what high contrast can do. Noted and ill bare that in mind in the future. Thanks!!

@@WatchItPaintIt no worries :) usually flickering lights and such are fine but that hit different, must have been the high contrast and quick movement combined. And thank you for trying to keep it in mind for the future, it's really appreciated :)

I agree. I've almost never had as much fun painting as I have with speed paints. They can be difficult to use because of the not going over already painted thing

I think this is one of the biggest perks and is often overlooked. People talk about the paint being good or bad. Judge peoples’ finished miniatures. But forget that some people just find the paint really fun :-D glad it’s not just me getting more enjoyment from our hobby since these paints came to life :-)

@WatchItPaintIt I agree and the speed paints don't look bad at all for a table ready army. I'm like you, I like to play over spending months painting

I'm normally a Guard man - and holy crap Guard infantry is almost built for Speedpaints! All those folds and edges. But I also have boxes of regular and Assault Intercessors sitting and waiting for my Deathwatch upgrade sprue and some 3d printed emblems to come in, so I can build a couple Space Marine Kill Team squads - one focused on throwing bolter rounds downrange and the other for those "CHAINSWORD GOES BRRRR" matchups. And both teams can fit on one tournament list, muahahaha...

I can say that trying to shake them they work and respond better, I manage though to “experiment” and then take a notice on their behaviour while I was painting my WHQ: CC minis. I use green stuff shaker, instead of a vortex, and while I was shaking them by hand took moar time, while my arm looked like "The Rock's" and of course didn't see the results that I discover using the mixer. What I notice, was that the colour was setting better, could handle it better and control the flow better. So trying to shake them juuuuust a bit moar it might give you a different result. Just to know that I did that “test” on SpeedPaint's 1.0

Airbrushing...that's my tip; don't buy a separate line of "airbrush paints" just use your contrast/speed paints..you won't find anything better.

Think airbrushing falls under more advanced tips. But your tip for the paints in the airbrush is top notch! Saves owning lots of sets of paints too. Nice one
@Nosferatuklown
@Nosferatuklown 11 ай бұрын
@WatchItPaintIt you know what, I respectfully disagree...I feel like airbrushing gets a bad reputation about being an advanced technique due to the equipment costs and clean up, but just like brush work you can make it as advanced or as beginner friendly as you choose...hell with brush work painters will often spend hundreds of hours on a mini for competition if they so chose, just like airbrushing. Bit let's say you wanted to paint a blood angel space marine (I don't play warhammer but I know they're red)...prime the model white, buy a cheap nail art airbrush and compressor (in the states we can get these for around $50USD) load up on your favorite red and blast the hell out of everything. Go back with your brush to add gold trim, then do a brown oil wash...three steps and you've made an incredible grimdark weathered blood angel spending what? 15 minutes not including drying time?...and if you do larger quantities of minis like an army of them, the time can really be to your advantage... scare of clean up? Run the airbrush under the tap until all the paint is out then blast clean water until it comes out clear...no need for advanced techniques or expensive equipment, I think that we as youtube content consumers buy into that notion of needing the biggest best more expensive toy to level up our skills....nah...just blast wet paint onto things and tidy it up. Keep It Simple

Love this reply, super valid points and I wish I had this experience too. I want to. But counter it though. I do actually own an airbrush. A £50 one. I’ve used it 10 times. I find the paint doesn’t stick (I have no idea why), I find it hard to control, I felt sick the last time from the smell :( (so I guess I need to buy a vent?) and I hate the clean up/risk of spilling the reservoir on my carpet. I wanted to be pleasantly surprised but all it’s made me think is a) maybe a more expensive one would work, b) I need to buy more equipment like a vent and a cleaner c) I’m not as skilled with it as I am with a brush
