Are they related? In this video, yes...two are related. The Beatboxer and the one wearing a hat are brothers Adam and Chris Rupp who started the group over 20 years ago for a church talent show. The members in this video are Adam Rupp, beatboxer, Chris Rupp Baritone/Tenor wearing the hat. Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses) singing tenor. Austin Brown high tenor and Tim Foust, Bass Singer. In 2016, Chris left the group to pursue his songwriting, singing and producing career. That is when Adam Chance (called Chance) came in singing baritone/bass. He is the one in Man of Constant Sorrow that did the Jaw Harp sound. Adam and Rob still live in Minnesota where the group was founded. Tim is from Texas but now lives in Nashville. Austin is from Georgia but now lives in Nashville too. Chance is from Alabama but now lives in California. Over the 20 + years, they have perfected their tight harmonies, expanded their vocal abilities and tapped into their songwriting skills. That said, for more Christmas that give you a taste of their humor, you may want to check out "Full Of Cheer" written by Tim or "Cold Hard Cash" written by Austin. Because of the variety of vocal ranges that they have in the group, they can sing any style they want and kill it every time. They do primarily country but tend to not pigeon hole themselves and sing whatever they feel like. One time it will be an original song or maybe a country cover. Next it will be a Justin Timberlake cover or maybe a Disney theme song. Will they partner up with another singer or singers? Or maybe they will cut loose with an R&B song. You never quite know what you are going to get from these guys except a damn good song! I think you would like the Butt's Medley, End of the Road, Honey I'm Good (wear the headphones for that one) Hillbilly Bone, In The Blood, This is How we roll, or American Pie with Don McClain

Thank you for the marvelous reaction to this beautiful rendition, arranged by the beatboxer Adam Rupp. And Tim Foust, the bass/ occasional tenor, has 5 octaves. And men sing tenor, not usually soprano. Adam (beatboxer) is Chris Rupp's (dude in hat) brother. Chris left in 2016, to be replaced by Adam Chance. For more Christmas, O Holy Night, Angels We Have Heard on High, What Child Is This?, a Tim original Snow Globe, funny Full of Cheer, Cold Hard Cash and Grandma Got Run Over... All wonderful!

You'll find out on your trip down this rabbit hole that these guys don't do covers, they do upgrades! They can take any song and stay true to the originaI but still manage to make it their own. In this video the beat boxer (Adam Rupp) and the guy wearing the hat (Chris Rupp) are brothers hence the same last name. They are the guys that started Home Free back around 2000, Chris went solo a few years ago, that's when Adam Chance for Street Corner Serranaders joined as a base/Beratone with 4+ octave range, he will do the base duties when Tim takes the lead vocal. Tim Faust, the base guy, has a 5+ octave range, check out his latest solo album, Pieces of Me, it's all Doo Wap don't by him and only him, it will blow your mind, there are about 4 songs you can find on KZbin. Adam Rupp has won multiple awards for his beat boxing, in their cover of Garth Brooks "Ain't going down til the sun comes up", he kills the harmonica and morphs into an electric guitar, pretty impressive. The 2 tenors are Austin Brown and Rob Lundquist, they did an opera song not long ago, Austin was the one that hit those really high notes on this one. Hope this helps a bit. Keep your hands inside the car and hang on, you're in for a hell of a ride!

For me one of the best arranged songs, or perhaps the best, of Home Free. So impressive! The so great harmonies, the sound effects, colors, etc. in such a beautiful but cold environment. When I saw and heard this for the first time, I did repeat it a few times. Just amazing. Here it is with Chris Rupp (with hat). He started the group 22 years ago with his brother Adam Rupp (the beatboxer). Chris left the group in 2016 for a solo album and other projects such as 7th ave and Cypress Fyre.

If you had let the end comments play, you would have discovered this was all arranged entirely by their beatboxer, Adam. And that shows some massive talent there. Also keep in mind, each one is not assigned to just one lane, so to speak. They can all beatbox to a degree and often cover more than one position while singing. That's why the bass can sing tenor, cause someone else can cover the bass, etc. And they all take turns as lead singer. Finally, since Christmas is almost hear, would love to hear you cover "Mary Did You Know," and "O Holy Night."
@pennygarrity3862 жыл бұрын
If you think Tim went high on this song listen to their cover of Mayday or some of his solo music from Pieces of Me. Adam (the beatboxer) arranged this and the guys said it was the most complicated arrangement they've ever done. Now you need to check out Listen to the Music (Doobie Brothers cover) Brother (Need to Breathe cover) and their latest originals Understand and Road Sweet Road and don't forget to check out Butts Remix. By cutting off the "post" video you missed learning that this was arranged by Adam Rupp the bearboxer. Plus that the setting was in Minnesota at an annual ice castle that moves around each year. And yes the beatboxer Adam Rupp and the baritone Chris Rupp are brothers. Chris left to do a solo career and Adam Chance (just Chance to avoid confusion) joined from Street Corner Symphony where he was the bass.

Chris and Adam Rupp started the group while they were in college. Adam is the vocal percussionist from another dimension. Chris has now left the group to do more solo work and has his own YT channel, but still collabs with various members of HF from time to time. Chris was replaced by Adam Chance (Chance, so as not to confuse him with Adam Rupp). There is a series of YT videos that go through the history of the group. Also a great interview with Tim Foust on The Charismatic Voice. Tim, Austin and Chance have their own channels and put out a lot of great music. Pretty much all of them collab with other artists (several HF and Peter Hollens that are absolutely amazing). Tim and Austin have a new project called Sweet & Low Music Co that is pretty awesome. So much wonderful music, so little time. Between HF and all the side projects, they will keep you going for a long, long time.

You absolutely need to use Headphones with these a capella groups.....PTX and VoicePlay as well...but you NEED to hear all the pieces. You NEED to check out "Children Go Where I send thee" where HF collabs with Kenny Rodgers....AMAZING as well. In the older videos, the brothers are Chris Rupp (normally wears a hat, tenor/baritone) and Adam Rupp (Beatboxer) and they co-founded Home Free back in 2000. Later Rob (beard) and Tim (bass) joined, then Austin (high tenor). Newer videos from 2013 on have Adam Chance (goes by Chance to avoid confusion) who is a bass/bariton. He can sing bass when Tim take lead. They all have incredible ranges. Rob and Adam are from Minnisota, Tim is from South Texas, Austin is from Georgia and I want to say that Chance is from Alabama....Adam arranged this song, and it was very complicated...Tim has a 5+ Octave range, Chance has a 4 octave range, and of course Austin and Rob sing tenor. Adam can actually sing tenor when not doing drums...and he has the widest range of all of them if you include his sound effects and throat rolls etc....

Wasn’t this great?!! Adam, the beatboxer, arranged this and they don’t let him arrange too often as his arrangements are too complicated. He’s the alien! His beatboxing is award winning. Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015) is great as it’s just him and a microphone and he’s drumming! Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range so he can sing tenor all the way down and he’s blown speakers before. They are all talented singers and all can beatbox to a degree. I’m so glad you’re wearing headphones. Actually, Chris Rupp and his brother, Adam started the group in 2000. They're the ones related...however, their connection is wonderful to see. You're going to really enjoy this journey, my friends... I'm now subbed for more Home Free and their music community which includes Peter Hollens, Texas Hill, a newly formed group with instruments called Sweet & Low...not to mention the music that Tim Faust (basso profundo) has released an album in which he sings all the parts with his 5+ octave range. Austin Brown has his own KZbin channel with great music. These guys offer so much and are so versatile, anything you choose is going to be awesome. They go from ridiculously funny Butts Medley and Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer to the sublime with Helplessly Hoping and Brothers in Arms. Enjoyed your reaction.... waiting for more.

The guy in the cap is the brother of the beatboxer. They started the group in 2000 along with their friend Matt Atwood. Home Free was the name of Matt's grandfather's boat and he helped them out financially when they first started. Older brother Chris Rupp left in 2016 for other projects and (Adam) Chance filled the open position. Chris does solo work and also sing with Cypress Fyre. He and his sister Tristin are one half of the a cappella group 7th Ave and they have a very fun version of Uptown Funk. Check out What Child is This by Chris Rupp feat. Home Free. It's the only video I know of where all 6 of 2016's Home Free sing together although Chance shows up as a party-goer in House Party while still with his old group and Chris is seen in the background of their video It Looks Good.

This is my favorite of their Christmas carols. Tim Foust, the bass, is very good. The thing about the acapella basses is they can always drive you crazy singing ALL the parts and have. 🙂 Try Homefree Ring of Fire ft Avi Kaplan that will give you 2 basses in one song. Tim Foust on his own does all the parts, Geoff Castellucci from Voiceplay same thing but never fear they will show you the multiples of themselves that they layer together. Male Acapella bands have a high tenor, tenor, baritone, bass and a beatboxer. The highest male voice is called a countertenor. Mitch Grassi of Pentatonix is one of those. Do have fun with Homefree the group has been around for 20 years but only the beatboxer, Adam Rupp is left of the original band now. (Chris Rupp baritone his brother is in this but left several years ago).

Only after those should you even go to Mayday, Brothers In Arms and Helplessly Hoping, not to mention Go Rest High on That Mountain and How Great Thou Art. You have no idea what a real treat you are in for and yes, Home Fries will flock to your channel :)

If you are enjoying this, then you should also check out the other two top groups, Pentatonix and Voice Play. They have different feels to their music respectively but are equally as talented. Have fun learning about acapella.

Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. To further blow your mind, check out Tim Foust's solo music from his doo wop album. Either, Will You Still Love Me/Stay or Since I Don't Have You. And, in keeping with mind blowing performances, check out Rob Lundquist and Austin Browns opera performance, Nessun Dorma.
