80's nostalgia is a real thing, for anyone who's still in doubt. And for those of us who grew up during that time are so fortunate to so easily relive it (and quite frankly any decade we long for) thanks to the internet. Granted, its only limited to listening to music, watching old films and home movies, and chats/comments...... but still, I go out and ride the bus to and from work every day....... and EVERY day, i see more and more kids/teens/young adults wearing much of the same attire that people wore, back in the 80's: ripped jeans, jean jackets, neon accents, curly hair/big hair (mostly the girls... but some dudes are also rocking the side-part, like the "neo-50's" revival that happened during the 1980's. It's kind of like how bell-bottoms made somewhat of a short-lived comeback during the 90's. Bomber jackets were popular in the 50's, and now those have made a comeback in the late 2010's to now, actually.
@samuelplacensia99792 жыл бұрын
Even if millennials and generation Z went back to the 80s they would absolutely hate it. They would not understand our culture our beliefs our way of life. They would try and convince everyone during the 80s that they are morally superior. I grew up during the 80s. 80s kids would bully today’s modern kids not because they’re mean what because these kids need it.

My favorite movies from the 70's and 80's are Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Flashdance, Footloose, The Breakfast Club, Nine To Five, The Outsiders, St. Elmo's Fire, Class, Foxes, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Sixteen Candles, RAD, Just One Of The Guys, Little Darlings, The Karate Kid, My Tutor, ET, and My Bodyguard! Was a teenager in the early 80’s. I remember shining up my motorcycle in the garage listening to the radio. Everyone was talking about how weird it will be to hear AC/DC with a new singer. Waited for weeks to finally hear it. Then. Back in Black came on the radio. Everything changed right there. It was so mind blowing. So different. Nobody was ready for that. I'm 54 years of age and I grew up smack dab in the early 80's. You couldn't beat it! It really started in 1978. The time span of 1978-1983 was flippin' amazing. If you weren't there, sorry, you just can't possibly understand it. The Ramones really started the whole thing off with the fashion and "new wave" attitude. Great groups like Blondie, The Cars, Bruce Woolley and The Camera Club (the original "Video Killed The Radio Star" way before The Buggles did it and it was a much better version than The Buggles.) and I could go on and on and on......That whole time was the greatest time of my life! The music and the fashion and early M-TV before the commercials. Once it got to mid to late 1983, things just started to pucker out. That great magic that was going on in that whole 1978-1983 scene was turning and then we had to deal with Prince.................

People don't realize that talking to a camera is still nerve inducing to me. I know it's a 45 because I have the adapter on my turntable. The issue is when I hit the red record button on my camera, I suddenly lose the ability to think/talk. It was a slip, and I caught it in editing, but had already showered and couldn't re-film. In my description I pointed out the mistake. KZbin can be hard. Making videos is more difficult than people realize. It takes time to shoot and edit. Then I get squirrelly when I talk sometimes because it's hard to naturally talk to just a lens. I never got fully comfortable with it. Had to stop making videos abruptly after a major neurosurgery. So if I restart, it's going to be going from ground zero again. Always felt like I had to have this big personality, but if I return to vlogs I think I will try to be more natural.

Ah, I love stumbling across folks that love the '80s. Like many others, I visited record stores daily in the late '70s and all through the '80s. Never a dull moment. P.S. Real life was never as cool as all the '80s movies made it seem. Sometimes it was better, sometimes worse. The best stuff was the music and that's what I focus on on my channel (plus my podcasts and radio shows). Did you ever do a video about how you got into the '80s? New subscriber.
@Historylover82 жыл бұрын
Growing up it was the 70s first because of my parents and their large vinyl collections. My favorite band in middle school was Aerosmith then I fell in love with Heart. As far as how I got into the 80s, I discussed that in my apartment tour/album collection video. It was some friends I knew who were in Highschool in the 80s and they invited me to see the musical Flashdance with them. I had no idea what it was, but the music was so good that I started listening to manic. Then Spotify was suggesting all these other songs and I became a big 80s Michael Jackson fan. 80s music has such a power element and strong beats so I got deeper into that music. Then the other pop culture stuff happened next such as films from the 80s, 80s fashion, watching 80s commercials and so on. What is hilarious is the fact all of this happened and I had not seen Stranger Things and everyone around me was yelling at me to go watch because of my new obsession. I loved the show! But many people thought it came first and it did not. People had to suggest it to me.

Oh Wow! You embrace the 80's well and are super pretty too! Dark hair, dark eyes. Beautiful nose! Definitely my type and back in the 80's, I certainly would have asked you out. BTW, I worked in a record store back in the 90's that was much like that place you visited. I was also a DJ back then. Since you are fond of such places, I am curious if you had seen movies like High Fidelity and Empire Records. If not, I think you will enjoy them. Record store life (and drama) was amazingly accurate in those movies! LOL! I had those big posters in the 80's too and yes, I am a Bowie fan. Anyway, it is nice to see the younger generations appreciating much earlier times and specifically the 80's. Nice to find that some of the old school record stores are still around. Many are gone. The place I worked for no longer sells records, but they are still around today, but they mostly sell DJ equipment now.

Just because my channel is mostly 80s themed doesn't mean everything I love is exclusively 80s. The "I Want to Believe" poster is from The X-Files which started in 1993. No one has called that out yet. I'm very surprised. It's an early 90s show. I also love Alien which came out in the 70s. The first Star Wars film came out in 77' yet I now have memorabilia from that film.

Clicked on the video because that store looks almost identical to Jerry's records in Pittsburgh, PA (my favorite record store). The store you visited had more cassettes, cds and posters, but Jerry's has more rooms. Same feel with steps leading upstairs. If you ever make it to Pittsburgh, make sure to check it out. Devo is awesome. Devo were a punk band from Akron, OH. Stands for De-evolution

She only knows Whip It. I know that album inside out because I listened to it every day in my 79 Chevy Chevette on my 8-track stereo. I ended up selling that 8-track on Discogs for a very nice amount. My only lingering question is was the Devo record on white vinyl or red white and blue swirl vinyl.
