“even though the amount of colors it can produce is infinite, it still can not produce all possible colors” that screwed me up
@PinkShades6 жыл бұрын
It's easier to visualize on a number line. There are an infinite amount of decimal numbers between 0 and 1, but that range is also finite. It's simultaneously both infinite and not depending on the context. If each colored laser contains a range of possible values from 0 (off) to 1 (fully lit) then really, the amount of "colors" a single laser diode can also be infinite. I think the more correct term is combinations, not colors, because everything you see from a combination of RGB lasers is still not the full spectrum. It's almost like the difference between digital audio and analog audio. _Almost._
@PinkShades6 жыл бұрын
@Tetrahedrony I wasn't replying to you. I know what you said, and I don't care what you said. It was stupid. First, black isn't a color, it's the absence of light. Second, 0 to 1 is not a list, it's a range. You can probably find your IQ in it if you look hard enough.

That 'time tunnel' effect is very groovy with an RGB laser!!! :-) When I was 12 or 13, I built a Lissajous projector out of nothing more than two long-throw loudspeakers, two pieces of broken mirror, and a bit of household adhesive tape. At its heart, I had a Metrologic ML-800 HeNe laser that had an output of a staggering 0.5mW. :-O I remember playing some songs by Pink Floyd (from the album, "The Wall") through the projector's speakers and being mesmerised by the patterns that it created on the wall. :-)

@BrianC16645 жыл бұрын
it is an unusual pronunciation, but I suspect it's the correct way now that I think about it. Every other in* word is literally the word with 'in' prefixed to it, yet finite is pronounced fi-nite yet when it's infinite we change it to inf-in-ite, for some reason the break in the word moves from fi to fin which doesn't make sense, every other word i can think of the syllables don't change (valuable/invaluable, appropriate/inappropriate, audible/inaudible etc...)

What is the name of that object on 6:18? Where it absorbs the laser and glows single color?

In 1978 I work for a company that uses lasers in an automated inspection system. I was in applications engineer and I remember one time we needed a gold yellow laser beam to scan a certain type of film product. We combines the output of a helium neon laser with an argon ion laser and we achieved the end results with collimating Optics. It was an interesting project back then.

*Styropyro:* _This RGB laser_ _can produce infinite colors!_ *The Planck Length:* _Am I_ _a joke to you?_ If you don’t get this joke, here’s a quick oversimplified physics lesson: The Planck Length is the smallest distance physically possible in the universe, and by the very fact that there is a non-zero smallest possible distance, that means these lasers can produce an overwhelmingly large range of colors, *_but it’s_* *_still finite._* *TL;DR The range of colors* *on these lasers is very* *large, but not infinite* *(but to our puny minds'* *comprehension it* *might as well be).*

TheRealJal 2 what type of laser goggles are the best? Styro says “survival laser.” But I can’t find survival laser goggles any where, where should I look to buy these glasses/goggles?
@JAL_EDM5 жыл бұрын
@@waynewright8189 idk the white thing was a joke. But I recommend you buy goggles from somebody who knows what's what. Don't get em from ebay, amazon, etsy, or Walmart. Get them from a website that focuses on lasers and protection. Idk what site is like that but good luck finding em.

That is a thing of beauty. It's also nostalgic: years ago I made a green/IR laser for a trigger device for my high speed photography. Green for alignment, IR for the triggering. Now I have this weird urge to make a laser with a ton of wavelengths using the dichroic mirror stack I built for my microscope multi wavelength illuminator..

8:50 imagine if you went back to ancient egypt with that tech, you'd be revered as a deity and high priest. Sometimes i'm really wondering if technology in ancient cultures could have played a part in sparking religions. No, i'm not saying alien tech, i'm just saying, what if a Tesla was born in ancient rome, serving as a temple priest claiming to see visions from jupiter, with some flashy experiments to simulate this and validate his claims.
