Just the recipe I've been looking for!!! The 6 fried corn recipes I watched today ended up looking like creamed corn to me; this reminds me of my mama's, only I'll add a little red bell pepper and a pinch of sugar to mine! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!

Hi Pam! I'm a new subscriber and have just started being interested in finding out how to utilize regular canned vegetables so that they taste good. My first search was for corn and my goodness, I think your take on it wins the prize! I can only imagine how that bacon fat takes it over the top. I cannot WAIT to try your Southern Fried Corn! Thank you so much!...............❤Brenda

Aaawwww you are so welcome! I have a black eyed pea can recipe posted too. I don’t use can too much but for the green ones. Like spinach green beans and collard greens etc one thing I can say is to first rinse rinse rinse and when you’re done rinse again. Then treat them like you would fresh. So glad to have you!!! 🙏🏽♥️

Southern fried corn doesn’t come from a can, Pam.
@CookingAtPamsPlace Жыл бұрын
It does when A. That’s all you have and B. your subscribers are asking for it because maybe that’s all they have! It’s the recipe that I’m sharing. Pick whatever corn you like., fresh, frozen or can. A lot of people also live in what’s called food deserts. Where there is no source of fresh produce on the regular. Sad but true. Also, I like to provide all kind of recipes. Although mostly made from scratch. You will see me use something processed or from a bag, box or can on occasion. Either it’s nostalgia from memory of my childhood or because I know there are many that use the product. Where the corn comes from doesn’t make the recipe. It’s the process and added ingredients to whatever your main product is. Thanks though!!!

@cs_fl5048 Жыл бұрын
Funny story...my then fiancée from Pennsy, came to our house (in Kentucky) and wanted to be helpful. In tidying the kitchen she wondered what that stuff in the coffee can was. I said bacon grease. She said "and you EAT THAT!!. I had to show her our canister set that had the grease tin with the strainer lid. We didn't make this up.. We are now married 48 years. But she won't let me cook with bacon grease. (But she loves my BLTs)
@alsimpson1659 Жыл бұрын
Kentucky born here, this is gammifae on Papa Al’s iPad. I love your story I too have saved cups in refrigerator. A bacon grease. Country girls never toss out this yummy stuff. It is so good to make country gravy for them homemade biscuits or about in the store biscuits. I have never used it in my corn, but I might. But I have never fried corn like this lady did nor did my mom. We use butter and milk, although the corn gets a milky substance, when you scrape the cob after you’ve cut off couple layers of the kernels. I would that I am in a majority of bacon savers in Kentucky and south
