The 2020 holiday season is right around the corner and many people will be looking at the Amazon Fire HD 10 for a gift. That is because it packs a 10.1 inch full HD screen into a tablet that is less than $150.
I decided to pick up the 9th generation Amazon Fire HD tablet and do an unboxing and review to see if it is worth the price. I also put the Google Playstore on the Fire HD tablet to make it essentially like any Android tablet.
Overall, if you are looking for a tablet in 2020 for light-weight tasks like gaming, video watching, social media, and email... this is a great tablet. The processor on the HD 10 is slow but can hold up for most easy tasks. Don't try to push the Amazon Fire HD 10 too hard and you will be pleasantly surprised!

First of all, great video. The only thing I would say is that the word productivity is a very relative word. I have an ipad pro 11 and I love it. It's very fast and amazing. I wanted another tablet so I found this on sale last week for $75 including my Target discount. Now that I've used it for a week I find myself doing just about everything I do on my ipad. It's extremely snappy (not as fast as the ipad but certainly not slow). I am running Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Onenote, and Todo. I also use Google docs suite. I write many documents and use excel quite a bit and both run perfectly on the Fire HD. I am actually bit surprised how well this tablet and was not expecting to use it as a productivity tablet and yet I am and enjoying it. I think it depends on what productivity you need to accomplish but I'm now using this as much as my ipad. I even tried Call of Duty on it and it ran great. For $75 with Google play services? It's one of the best bargains I've had in a long time.

I bought the 2020 firetab with no regrets. I agree with you fire tablets will never be made with the quality materials like an ipad but you can still get alot done with it. Battery life if fantastic. I use my hp chromebook alot to.

Nice review, but you missed a couple of things. You can use Alexa with it. And, it is perfect for reading. My mom is 93. She can use it like an echo show. And the best part is she reads on it a lot. I enlarged the print and she loves it. So for her it has become something she uses every day. She does even bother with her kindle anymore. And I gave her Amazon unlimited books for ten bucks a month. Huge selection. This is the most versatile table on the market, and at a very cheap price!

Not a bad option. If you want an upgrade. The Samsung S6 lite comes with a pen and is a much better tablet. I reviewed its couple months ago if you want to check it out

@@dad.0 absolutely the best tablet money can buy for 80$ period. With Fire Toolbox you can remove all of the amazon apps (if you choose) remove the ads, and even install a custom launcher such as Nova launcher and pretty much remove Fire OS turning this into a Galaxy Tab A series killer. For like 80 bucks less! Even with the Tab A7 black Friday deal. Edit: Fire OS is one of the main reasons why the tablet stutters a lot as everything on the home screen is loaded pretty much all the time and it uses up most of the time over 1gb of ram at a time! Your sometimes running games and apps with less than 1gb of ram which causes the cpu to over work and heat up making the tablet even slower possibly permanently slower. It's not as bad since they moved fire OS to newer Android but when fire OS was on Android 5.0 the tablets were so sluggish and would even stutter playing youtube videos at times. But it runs super smooth on Nova launcher you can really only see the slower performance scrolling really fast on websites, social media, etc and playing graphically intense games. This would be even better if it had the fire HDX 8.9 screen resolution of 2560x1600 with HDR allowing for 1440p video playback and such I have to admit.

A silly yet valid question... Is there only one version of the Fire HD 10 Plus or are there different versions for different global areas? I use Apple products. As there are many versions available for various parts of the world, I’m careful that I use American version Apple products. Currently, I live and work in China 🇨🇳. “The Great Firewall” really makes life extremely difficult as far as internet is concerned. I was in Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 for ten years, and “The Theocratic Firewall” was twice as bad. My only savior was and is a VPN and an American/British version of iPhone. As you’re aware, COVID has made life very restrictive. I haven’t been home in four years. Also, a Chinese friend of mine has the Chinese version of Amazon, and is unable to find the Fire HD 10 Plus. Fire tablets aren't intended to be productivity tools, they are entertainment devices. Buy the tablet with the most RAM you can afford. I just purchased the plus model (2021) for $120 shipped. 4GB RAM with wireless charging. It will surely be on sale at less than $100 in the not so distant future if you can wait. I bought the HD 8 plus (2020) for $70 too.

This tablet has 3 GB of ram; he incorrectly states 2GB. I bought the plus version with 4GB of ram and have no issues. Great tablet! It’s hands down unbeatable and the best budget tablet, when you consider price, performance, and flexibility. Best content consumption tablet. Prefer this over my iPad for watching and downloading content for off line viewing. Great for Xbox cloud gaming as well. I think your review is decent, but many of your generalizations near the end of the video are simply inaccurate. No tablet, outside of the surface pro are truly suited for “productivity”. iPads are okay in a pinch, but are far from ideal. No offense meant, but much of your review is simply regurgitation of much of the marketing bias specific to the tablet segment.

I don't know why people love to compare this tablet to 329 to 900 dollar tablets . The price of this tablet is 149 and it goes for 99 monthly and even 75 a few times a year . I also love how when doing a speed test of opening up apps on this or the iPad that the ipads speed is maybe 1 second faster . That's hilarious for basic task this is all you need email , media consumption, social media and light gaming. So yes I completely agree with you

It's SUPER EASY. There is a dev kit you can download to your pc. Then you just plug the fire tab in. I wiped mine clean within the first 5 mins of owning it. It's basically an Android tablet at this point with the play store. It takes literally seconds to do.

I am going to buy this, but with a bit of hesitation. I've always purchased Nooks, but been very happy with them. However, B&N has sabotaged their own eReader/tablet, in an attempt to squeeze more profit by putting out a cheaper (read: lower quality) product, and having 2nd tier software companies handle all aspects of the Nook business. That means few to no updates, and very poor customer support.... Recently I read that B&N has decided to let the Nook brand just slowly die off..... So, I guess I will be a Kindle owner. Oh, my usage will be mainly for reading, and watching videos, movies, and football.

Michael, I started with a Sony ebook reader many many moons ago and bought the Kindle when I couldn't find my Sony. I haven't looked back. I also love that I can listen to Audible on the same device and not switch to an iPod (yes I'm that old). I mainly use my kindle for reading and listening to books and watching TV. My biggest issue with my kindle(s) is the charging ports as they loosen over time. I'm hoping the USB-C fixes this problem. I really hope you enjoy it. I recommend you subscribe to the Unlimited plan so you can borrow more books than you can read 😊

Please go back to computer basics 101 before commenting... It's not an either/or scenario. The processor works together with the RAM (and other components) to deliver overall performance. A low amount of RAM will hinder multi-tasking, app loading, gaming, and overall performance as there is not enough short-term memory storage space for the computer to place data. So, the reviewer is right
